Ronnie Wood threatened with axe

Ronnie Wood faces being axed from the Rolling Stones because of his drinking.

The 61-year-old rocker - who has been treated for alcoholism several times over the last 30 years - has been warned to curb his partying or risk being banned from a proposed autumn tour of America with bandmates Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts.

A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "All the band have to have a compulsory pre-tour medical to make sure they can get insurance.

"Ronnie failed his medical for the 2002/2003 tour because he was drinking seven times the recommended number of alcohol units a week. He had to spend months drying out at a clinic in Arizona.

"There are worries that could be the case again this time."

Ronnie was most recently treated for his alcohol addiction last August at the Life Works clinic in Surrey, England, following a 10-day drinking binge in Ireland with Russian girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova, 20.

If he is banned from touring, Ronnie risks losing out on hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The 'Satisfaction' rockers' 'Bigger Bang' world tour, which took place between August 2005 and August 2007, was the highest-grossing of all time, generating $558,255,524.

The group were also named the highest-paid private performers last year, commanding a staggering £3.5 million per private show.

Salma Hayek marries in Paris on Valentine's Day

Actress Salma Hayek speaks at a press conference announcing her partnership with UNICEF and Pamper's for the second year launching of their 'One Pack = One Vaccine' campaign, to help fight Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 in New York. [Agencies]

PARIS — Salma Hayek picked a most romantic time and place to get married: Valentine's Day in Paris. The Mexican-born actress wed French magnate Francois-Henri Pinault in a civil ceremony Saturday at the City Hall in Paris' chic 6th arrondissement, according to an official there.

The wedding was a small affair, said the official, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, in accordance with policy.

Hayek's spokeswoman, Cari Ross, confirmed in an e-mail Monday that the marriage had taken place in Paris Saturday. No further details were provided.

The nuptials followed a rocky romance. The two met in Italy in 2006, announced their engagement and had a baby, Valentina Paloma, in September 2007. Last year they broke off their engagement but made up a few months later.

Hayek, 42, was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for the film "Frida," the biography of the painter Frida Kahlo, which she produced and starred in. She is one of the executive producers of the hit series "Ugly Betty" and is also the chief executive of Ventanazul, a production company she formed with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

Pinault, 46, is chief executive of the French luxury and retail group PPR SA, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma.

Madonna converts Jesus to Kabbalah

U.S. singer Madonna performs on stage during her "Sticky and Sweet" tour at the Danube island in Vienna September 23, 2008. [Agencies]

Madonna is trying to convert her rumoured boyfriend Jesus Luz to Kabbalah.

The singer has reportedly persuaded the 22-year-old Brazilian model - who was raised a Catholic - to rethink his faith, and Jesus is now considering turning to the mystical off-shoot of Judaism.

A source said "Jesus has taken a real interest in Kabbalah and has started making a few online enquiries into the faith. He joined an online Kabbalah group and is keen to become and active member. Madonna has also offered to take him to the Kabbalah centre in New York and he is exceedingly keen to take her up on that."

Jesus' parents are believed to be concerned about the power 50-year-old Madonna appears to have over their son.

The source added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Jesus' family are very traditional and quite religious so this news is sure to come as something of a shock. But Jesus is totally taken with Madonna and is slightly in awe of her. Quite simply he can't get enough, and finds her utterly compelling and bewitching."

The pair - who recently appeared together in a steamy series of photos for W magazine - are believed to have been dating since meeting on the shoot last December.

Meanwhile, a nude photograph of the 'Like a Virgin' singer, which appeared in Playboy magazine when she was 20, has been sold at auction for $37,500.

The full-frontal black and white image - for which Madonna may have earned as little $25 for the 1979 modelling session - was bought by an unnamed European collector on Thursday (12.02.09).

Oscar documentaries may come down to the "Wire"

Simon Chinn and James Marsh pose with the award for outstanding British film for "Man on Wire" during the 2009 BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London February 8, 2009. [Agencies]

LOS ANGELES - One man's high-wire walk between the World Trade Center towers is so unfathomable it could seem as fictional, but the real-life feat has made "Man on Wire" the documentary film to beat in this year's Oscars.

The portrayal of Frenchman Philippe Petit's illegal 1974 adventure in New York comes to the Academy Awards loaded with prizes, most notably British film of the year at this month's BAFTA Awards.

Director James Marsh said he was stunned by the BAFTA award -- a first for a non-fiction film -- but believes "Man on Wire" has crossed over to the mainstream because it is less like a documentary and more akin to a narrative movie.

"It was really like a heist film, a thriller," said Marsh, who reveled in the remarkable planning and obstacles that Petit's team faced in the lead-up to the walk itself, 1,350 feet above the sidewalks of Manhattan.

Documentary filmmaker A.J. Schnack says "Man on Wire" is the clear favorite because, not only has it won prizes, but its box office is high for a "doc" ($3 million in North America) and it has earned the respect of the documentary community.

"Nearly everyone I talk to really loves (it) and you don't get that all the time in the documentary category," said Schnack, who writes about the industry in his weblog "All These Wonderful Things."

But Schnack notes the four other films in the race have their supporters and could all be described as "dark horses" for the award at the February 22 show in Los Angeles.

The directors are all first-time Oscar nominees, but their films tackle very diverse issues, unlike the 2008 line-up, when war in Iraq and torture were the dominant themes.

FROM ANTARCTICA TO LAOS

Prolific German director Werner Herzog, an arthouse idol for films like "Fitzcarraldo," is nominated with his ode to Antarctica and adventurous souls who work there in "Encounters At the End of the World."

Herzog spent seven weeks at the American Antarctic research center and found unique characters to help him narrate, such as an eloquent philosopher turned truck driver. Sweeping snowscapes and dreamy underwater camera work complete the picture.

"I had no idea who I was going to meet, I had to make contacts very quickly and I never thought I would come back with a movie," said Herzog. "It was totally surprising it came together so easily."

He vowed not to make a movie about "fluffy penguins." But he does feature one lone penguin who marches away from the pack toward certain death in a heart-rending scene.

Cinematographer Ellen Kuras earned a nod for her directing debut, "The Betrayal," which took 23 years to make. The film shows how U.S. military intervention in Vietnam impacted Laos through one large family that fled to America.

Thavisouk Phrasavath, Kuras' co-director, chronicles the breakdown of his family on the mean streets of New York.

"It is very universal," Kuras said. "I think it has touched on people in a very personal way."

"Trouble the Water" has made waves for its first-hand account of survival from Hurricane Katrina, pieced together by documentary makers Tia Lessin and Carl Deal.

They took Kimberly Roberts' dramatic video camera footage of her and her husband's experience during the storm and put it at the heart of the film that chronicles their evacuation and eventual return to the devastated city of New Orleans.

"The Garden" by Scott Hamilton Kennedy could win a portion of the local Academy votes with its tale of the battle for one of the nation's largest community gardens, created in the wake of the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

Marsh says he feels uncomfortable with the front-runner status for "Man on Wire," in a field he calls "very good" and reflective of an exciting direction of non-fiction film.

"This might be looked upon as a very good era for documentary making, especially in America," said Marsh.

'Quiet' drinker Beyonce Knowles

Singer Beyonce sits during the 40th Annual NAACP Image Awards at the Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles February 12, 2009. [Agencies]

Beyonce Knowles says she is a boring drunk.

The 'Single Ladies' singer - who is married to rapper Jay Z - enjoys a glass of wine occasionally, but has a tendency to fall asleep if she has too much alcohol.

She said: "Well, I don't drink often. But when I'm drunk, I'm very quiet and I observe and I go to sleep. I don't think I'm much fun."

The 27-year-old star also insists she has never been interested in taking drugs.

Beyonce added: "I always said I would never do it. I've never seen a person who was high and thought, 'Wow, I want to do that!' I'm like, 'That's cool for them, but no thank you. I'll just have my wine.' "

The 'Bootylicious' singer - who has an alter-ego she calls Sasha - often feels people are watching her when she goes to a club to see if she can replicate her high-energy dance routines.

She explained to Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine: "Sometimes I'll dance, but I feel like at a party everyone expects me to be Sasha and go out there and run the dance floor."

'Friday the 13th' Tops box office

"Friday the 13th", New Line Cinema's remake of the 1980 horror film, opened at the top of box office this weekend in the United States and Canada, draining about 42.2 million dollars over Valentine's Day weekend.

The return of killer Jason Voorhees to Camp Crystal Lake marked the second-best President's Day weekend opening ever, with the remake out-earning the original 1980 slasher classic in one weekend, according to preliminary figures released on Sunday.

Total earnings in North America for the 1980 film came to 39.7 million dollars, according to the Los Angeles-based box office tracking firm Media By Numbers.

Despite Valentine's Day falling on Saturday, "Friday the 13th" easily pushed last week's box office leader, the romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You", into the second place. The film, also released by New Line Cinema, brought in 19.6 million dollars over the three-day period.

Close behind in third place was the Liam Neeson thriller "Taken" with 19.2 million dollars during its third weekend in release.

Disney's "Confessions of a Shopaholic" opened in fourth place with 15.4 million dollars, while the animated 3-D "Coraline", which opened in third place last week, moved back to fifth with 15.3 million dollars, according to the firm.

"Benjamin Button" stays on top overseas

Actor Brad Pitt attends a news conference for his film "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in Tokyo January 28, 2009.[Agencies]

LOS ANGELES - Lavished with 13 Oscar nominations, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" showing considerable strength at the foreign box office on Sunday, logging a second consecutive weekend at No. 1.

The Brad Pitt drama earned an estimated $31 million from 53 markets, taking its foreign tally to $118.6 million. In North America, it has earned about $122 million, but has largely run out of steam a week before the Oscars are handed out.

The film enjoyed first-place debuts in Italy ($4.6 million), South Korea ($2 million) and Taiwan ($1 million).

A No. 1 Paris finish portends a French tally of $4.6 million in its second weekend, and in Spain it held on to the No. 1 spot with $3.3 million, also in its second weekend. A first-place finish in Japan ($3.1 million) and a muscular holdover in the U.K. ($2.6 million) helped the weekend tally.

With its Oscar nomination in the animated film category, Disney's "Bolt' has been showing real spunk internationally, finishing second and pushing its overseas total to $131.8 million thanks to a $16.5 million weekend from 38 territories. A strong U.K. bow ($7.8 million) helped as did solid bows in Holland and Belgium.

Other key Oscar bidders are doing nowhere near as well. "Milk" has earned $7.5 million to date; "Frost/Nixon" $6.4 million; "Doubt" $10.3 million; and "Revolutionary Road" $43 million.

Finishing No. 3 overall was "Valkyrie," which expanded its run to include 18 markets in Latin America, southeast Asia and parts of eastern Europe. The weekend tally was $11.9 million from 55 markets, for an international total of $72 million. The Tom Cruise drama opened at No. 1 in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Mexico.

"He's Just Not That Into You," at No. 4, broadened its overseas run to 16 markets for a weekend estimate of $11.4 million. The comedy opened at No. 1 in Australia with $3.8 million. Its foreign total stands at $16.5 million.

New North American champ "Friday the 13th" slashed its way to $10.4 million from 30 markets. Top tallies included Britain with $2 million and Russia with $1.7 million.

Two other North American debutants also appeared on the international stage: "Confessions of a Shopaholic" earned $2.8 million from five overseas markets. "The International" pulled in $2.7 million from three markets including Germany, where the Clive Owen espionage thriller played the just-ended Berlin International Film Festival.

Jennifer Aniston 'baffled' by divorce

Jennifer Aniston is "baffled" by the continuing interest in her divorce.

The 'Marley and Me' star can't understand why people still ask about her ex-husband Brad Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie.

The 40-year-old actress - who recently branded Angelina "so uncool" for falling for Brad while he was still married - denied Brad had reprimanded her over her comments, but admitted she has gone through some "tough times".

Jennifer said: "Everybody goes through tough times. You've just got to figure out how to get through them. It's my history and my memory.

"I used to really take things personally, but, if you can be truthful and honest with who you are, then you have a much easier time walking through life. That took me some time to figure out."

The star - who is currently dating musician John Mayer - also revealed she is extremely grateful to have starred in hit US TV series 'Friends'.

She added to Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "It's a very, very powerful thing to have been part of something that has been a marker in people's lives."

Since the 'Sex and the City' movie, there have been rumours the cast of 'Friends' will reunite for a film but Jennifer is not sure if it will go ahead.

She explained: "If there is to be a reunion, I would hope it would be sooner rather than later, and I think it would be better if we did just one episode.

"Courtney Cox and I have discussed it, and it would be fun to get together again, but I don't know if it will happen."

Duffy's shyness confession

Welsh recording artist Duffy arrives at the 51st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles February 8, 2009. [Agencies]

Duffy's shyness almost stopped her becoming a singer.

The Welsh songstress - who picked up the Best Pop Vocal Album prize for her debut LP 'Rockferry' at this month's Grammy Awards - nearly chose swimming over singing because of her nerves.

She said: "As a kid, I never wanted to be a singer - I was far too shy - but I needed a way of externalising my thoughts because I was always talking s**t. I used to be a good swimmer but I got picked on in the pool."

The 24-year-old pop star recently revealed she would like to swap her retro 60s sound and make a more modern record now she has established herself on the world music scene.

A source said: "She is keen to explore a Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera style of album. On the next record, Duffy can afford to be a bit more experimental now that she is assured her position as a singing force to be reckoned with."

The 'Mercy' singer is currently rehearsing for her performance at this week's BRIT Awards - which take place at London's Earl's Court on February 18 - where she is up for a clutch of prizes, including British Female, British Album, British Single and British Breakthrough Act.

Tom Cruise's coffee cup sale

U.S. actor Tom Cruise attends a photo call as he presents his movie "Valkyrie" in Mexico City February 5, 2009. [Agencies]

Tom Cruise's coffee cup is up for auction.

A Brazilian website is selling the container reportedly used by the 'Valkyrie' actor while on holiday in Forte da Urca, Brazil.

So far the empty cup has a sale price of $2,200.

The person who set up the auction on website Mercado Libre - who goes by the screen name Rafael Mak - includes pictures of him picking the Matte Leao cup out of a rubbish bin and the disposable cup sealed in a plastic bag.

The authenticity of the sale has, however, been contested. Underneath the advert, a poster has written a message claiming they have the real cup used by Tom, and the auction is fake.

The post reads: "I would like to inform all potential buyers that this ad is false, because I got the glass [sic], and not put the sale [sic], because I am an unconditional fan of Tom Cruise from Top Gun. Thus, this glass is false, only buy if they want to be deceived [sic]."

Tom was in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, last week with wife Katie Holmes - where he slipped up by greeting reporters in Spanish rather than the national language, Portuguese.

Tom Cruise is not the first celebrity to see his rubbish auctioned off.

In December, US TV station NBC sold a tissue used by Scarlett Johansson when she appeared on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', raising $5,300 for charity.

Madonna the top-earning musician of 2008

U.S. singer Madonna performs on stage during her "Sticky and Sweet" tour at Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro December 14, 2008. [Agencies]

NASHVILLE – If anyone had any doubt that touring is where the money is in today's music business, a look at Billboard's top moneymakers of 2008 should hammer the point home.

Regardless of genre, retail sales or radio play, each of the 20 acts on the moneymakers list toured last year. For almost all of them, touring generated the most revenue. And in a year when recorded-music sales declined yet again, many earned more at the box office than ever before.

Madonna was No. 1 on the list with $242.2 million. She had the 50th-best-selling album in the country and ranked 14th on the list of digital track sellers -- but had the highest-earning 2008 tour.

Madonna was followed on the moneymakers list by Bon Jovi with $157.2 million, Bruce Springsteen ($156.3 million), the Police ($110 million), Celine Dion ($99.2 million), Kenny Chesney ($90.8 million), Neil Diamond ($82.2 million), Rascall Flatts ($63.5 million), Jonas Brothers ($62.6 million) and Coldplay ($62.2 million).

The top-five moneymakers are also the five acts that earned the most on tour, and in the same order, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Those questioning whether Madonna rates the reported 10-year, $120 million multi-rights deal with concert promoter Live Nation might reconsider. Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour took in $229.9 million at the box office, although the extravagant production might have cost up to 40% of that gross, according to industry estimates. The margin is much better on tour merchandise, where Madonna probably raked in more than $18 million in sales, not counting her licensing business.

Of course, nothing helps reduce tour production costs like more touring. So Madonna will perform another run of concerts this summer -- 25 shows in the U.K. and Europe -- which will add to the take of the top-grossing tour by a female or solo artist.

Outside of the U.K., all of Madonna's concerts will be in stadiums, so she'll gross several million dollars per night. By fall, Sticky & Sweet will have run for 80 shows and earned a place in the top-five grossing tours in history.

"Dreamgirl" Hudson dominates NAACP Image awards

Singer Beyonce smiles on stage after performing "Halo" at the 40th Annual NAACP Image Awards at the Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles February 12, 2009. [Agencies]

LOS ANGELES – Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson dominated the NAACP Image awards on Thursday, giving her a boost for 2009 after her mother, brother and nephew were killed by an estranged brother-in-law four months ago.

However two nominees, R&B singer Chris Brown and girlfriend Rihanna, stayed away from the star-studded ceremony following Brown's arrest earlier this week on charges of making criminal threats on an unidentified woman, widely reported to be his girlfriend Rihanna.

Neither Brown nor Rihanna have been seen publicly since this past Sunday when Brown, 19, one of the fastest-rising singing stars of the last two years, was arrested just ahead of the music industry's Grammy Awards.

Jamie Foxx beat Brown to win the trophy for outstanding male artist in an award that was announced before the live television ceremony began.

Rihanna, 20, was in the running for outstanding female artist of the year after a string of hits including "Umbrella" and "Disturbia," but Beyonce walked away with that trophy.

Hudson, Beyonce's co-star in the 2006 movie "Dreamgirls" and former "American Idol" contestant, won with three Image awards, given out by the oldest U.S. civil rights organization, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, which celebrated its 100th anniversary Thursday night.

Hudson won new artist, outstanding collaboration, and best album with her self-titled CD, and she received a standing ovation.

"Now don't start me to crying again, y'all," said an emotional Hudson on accepting the award. "It's always an honor to come home and feel welcome and to feel the love."

"The Secret Life of Bees," in which Hudson stars, won for best motion picture, while hospital series "Grey's Anatomy" won the award for best TV drama and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" was awarded outstanding comedy series.

Sean "Diddy" Combs won the TV movie actor trophy for his role in ABC miniseries "A Raisin in the Sun," based on the 1950s play about life in a black neighborhood of Chicago. The series also won the award for outstanding TV movie.

Hip-hop music producer and businessman Russell Simmons received the NAACP's prestigious Vanguard trophy for helping to increase understanding of racial and social issues.

Simmons, 51, the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, was cited for using the power of hip-hop culture to inspire American youth. He joins past Vanguard recipients Aretha Franklin, Prince, Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kramer.

The NAACP Image Awards which involve 53 categories spanning music, literature, television and music are given to honor achievements and performances of people of color in TV, film, music and literature.

Beyonce Knowles cherishes marriage

Beyonce Knowles arrives at Saks Fifth Avenue's "Unforgettable Evening" benefiting the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund in Beverly Hills, California February 10, 2009. [Agencies]

Beyonce Knowles thinks weddings are overrated.

The 'Single Ladies' singer kept her nuptials to rapper Jay-Z secret because she wanted to "cherish" the commitment of marriage rather than the big day itself.

She said: "I think that people can put way too much emphasis on the day. It's just so temporary and it goes away in a second.

And then you have this commitment you made, and I don't know if people cherish it as much as they should."

Beyonce - who married Jay-Z in a secret ceremony last April - admits she has always been a private person and never wanted an elaborate wedding. She explained to Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine: "I've never been the girl who went to a wedding and thought, 'Oooh, I want to get married.' So I didn't want something big and dramatic.

That doesn't mean it was anticlimactic or anything, but I think it's good to be somebody who thinks about the reality of things."

Michelle Obama graces cover of Vogue magazine

Michelle Obama is seen in an undated handout photo on the March cover of Vogue magazine photographed by Annie Leibovitz. She graces the cover of next month's Vogue magazine, marking the second time a U.S. first lady has appeared on the front of one of the world's leading fashion magazines. [Agencies]

LOS ANGELES- Michelle Obama graces the cover of next month's Vogue magazine, marking the second time a U.S. first lady has appeared on the front of one of the world's leading fashion magazines.

Obama, 45, who has been hailed by both U.S. retailers and the media as a new fashion icon, donned a magenta sheath dress for the cover photo. The dress was designed by Jason Wu, who also created her white inaugural ball gown.

Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz took the cover photo and several fashion shots featured inside the March edition of Vogue.

With the exception of Bess Truman, every U.S. first lady since Lou Hoover in the 1930s has been featured in Vogue, but Obama is only the second presidential wife to appear on the cover, Vogue said. Hillary Clinton did so in 1998.

Obama has won praise from fashionistas for mixing designer pieces with off-the-rack American brands like J. Crew and Gap.

Vogue's editor-at-large, Andre Leon Talley said Obama selected the outfits worn for the photo shoot herself, from her own wardrobe, pairing designer wear with affordable clothes.

"She doesn't need any help. She loves fashion and knows what works for her. She's never had a conversation with me about, 'What do you think?' or 'How did this look?' And I'm glad for that."

Obama told Vogue she loved clothes, but said comfort and fun was more important than following fashion.

"First and foremost, I wear what I love. That's what women have to focus on: what makes them happy and what makes them feel comfortable and beautiful. If I can have any impact, I want women to feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion," she said.

While Obama discussed her views on fashion, she made clear family was her first priority, particularly caring for daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.

"I'm going to try to take them to school every morning, as much as I can," Obama told the magazine. "But there's also a measure of independence. And obviously there will be times I won't be able to drop them off at all. I like to be a presence in my kids' school. I want to know the teachers; I want to know the other parents," she said.

Rihanna 'choked' by Chris

Rihanna arrives at the Recording Academy's Clive Davis pre-Grammy party in Beverly Hills, California February 7, 2009. [Agencies]

Rihanna has reportedly claimed Chris Brown choked her until she was unconscious during an alleged assault on Sunday (08.02.09).

The 'Umbrella' singer is fully co-operating with police - who booked Chris on suspicion of making criminal threats - and has also alleged he threatened to kill her during the attack.

Rihanna and Chris started arguing after leaving Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party on Saturday (07.02.09), resulting in Chris stopping his silver Lamborghini in a Los Angeles side street.

Gossip website E! reports Rihanna threw Chris' car keys out the window, sending the 19-year-old singer into a rage.

After failing to find the keys, he allegedly returned to the car, put his hands around Rihanna's neck and screamed: "I'm going to kill you."

It is claimed Rihanna lost consciousness and when she came round Chris had fled. Officers who attended the scene were said to be so shocked at her "horrific" injuries - including a split lip, bruised face and bite marks - they drove her straight to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The singer - who is now in hiding - has cancelled her 21st birthday party, which was due to take place on February 20, and part of her tour.

However, her family have assured her fans she is recovering well.

Her grandmother Clara Brathwaite said: "I don't want people to worry. Rihanna is fine and she is doing well."

Yesterday (10.02.09), the Los Angeles district attorney asked police to look for more evidence in their case against Chris. The investigation needs to be carried out before formal charges are filed against the singer.

District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robinson confirmed: "Prosecutors asked for further investigation. No further comment at this time."

Chris' former step-father has spoken out about the alleged incident, claiming he "wouldn't be surprised" if the singer had assaulted Rihanna.

Donnelle Hawkins - who Chris has accused of abusing his mother, an allegation Donnelle refutes - said: "I wouldn't be surprised. Chris has to take responsibility for his own actions."

Mickey Rourke triumphed in the Best Actor category, being recognised for his acclaimed comeback performance in 'The Wrestler'.

The actor - who has spent 15 years in the Hollywood wilderness - made an emotional acceptance speech, in which he said: "It's such a pleasure to be back here, out of the darkness."

He also praised his publicist, Paula Woods, for "having the hardest job in showbusiness - telling me where to go, what to do, when to do it, how to dress..."

Kate Winslet was perfectly composed when she accepted the statuette for Best Actress for her performance in 'The Reader'.

The 33-year-old British star - who sobbed and gasped her way through her Golden Globes acceptance speech last month - thanked her parents in the audience "who I will not look at right now, otherwise I will burst into tears".

Australian actor Heath Ledger - who died of an accidental prescription drug overdose last year - was posthumously received the Best Supporting Actor prize for his grim portrayal of The Joker in Batman blockbuster 'The Dark Knight'.

The star-studded audience was in tears as the film's producer Charles Roven accepted the statue on behalf of Ledger's family.

Roven said: "Knowing Heath, I know that he would be very humbled just to be in the company of the other performers that were also nominated this evening.

"He was, as an actor and a professional and a human being, one of a kind."

Winslet, Rourke, Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig and Penelope Cruz braved the wet London weather to walk the red carpet at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were also in attendance, but both saw their films overlooked.

Pitt's 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' - nominated for 11 awards - only won three, while Jolie's 'Changeling', acknowledged in eight categories, went home empty-handed.

Adnan Ghalib still dating Britney

Adnan Ghalib insists he is still dating Britney Spears.

British paparazzo Adnan reportedly told friends last month he is Britney's boyfriend, despite her obtaining a restraining order against him last week.

According to Heat magazine, a source claims Adnan - who has not been seen with the 'Womanizer' singer in over a year - said: "I still love Britney. I'm her boyfriend. "Britney has a beautiful soul. We share something really special.

The truth about us will come out eventually, but it's not for me to talk about. I love her." Adnan's relationship with Britney, 27, was quickly curtailed when Britney's father Jamie became her co-conservator - and was placed in control of her money and affairs - in February last year.

In the same month, Adnan was given his first temporary order requiring him to stay at least 250 yards away from Britney - who was hospitalised at the time at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for observation.

Adnan abided by its terms until July when the order expired and wasn't renewed. However, Britney gained another temporary order against Adnan and her former manager Sam Lutfi which accused them both of trying to "disrupt" the conservatorship order earlier this month.

A hearing has been scheduled for February 23 which will review the restraining order.

Brad Pitt still 'lusts' for Aniston

U.S. actress Angelina Jolie and her husband actor Brad Pitt arrive for the 2009 BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London February 8, 2009. [Agencies]

Brad Pitt's friends suspect he still has feelings for ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

'The Curious case of Benjamin Button' star is reportedly feeling increasingly unhappy in his relationship with Angelina Jolie, and often reminisces about his relationship with Jennifer.

A source told National Enquirer magazine: "The way Brad talks about Jennifer is enough to make his drinking buddies wonder that maybe, after all this time, he wishes he hadn't broken up with her.

"I'll bet he's secretly lusting after her as she turns 40. She's sexier than ever. Surely he had more than a twinge of jealously when she got back with John Mayer.

"You get the feeling Brad knows he could always be himself around Jennifer."

Brad raises six children with Angelina - Maddox, seven, Zahara, five, Pax, seven, Shiloh, two and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline who are six months old.

Brad was married to Jennifer for five years, until they split in 2005.
