Julie Andrews to sing againJulie Andrews to grace London stage again

Veteran of the stage and screen Julie Andrews is set to return to the London stage for a one off show in May.

It will mark the first London performance in 30 years for the 74 year old performer. Best known for her performances in Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, the Surrey-born star will perform a selection of some of the most popular musical numbers of the last 50 years and will be joined by five other performers.

The Independent reports that the Oscar winner will also narrate Simeon's Gift, a best-selling children's book she wrote with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton.

While dame Andrew's voice was damaged following an operation to remove non-cancerous nodules on her vocal chords 12 years ago, the star has managed to regain some of the vocal prowess that made her famous.

Her manager told The Times newspaper: "Julie cannot sing as she once did.

"Fortunately she has subsequently been able to regain some of the notes she was once well known for. The show will be a beautifully woven blend of her singing along with her guest stars."

The show, An Evening With Julie Andrews, will feature music from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and takes place at the O2 Arena in London on May 8, 2010.

According to The Independent, Dame Andrews said of the event: "To perform once again in my homeland on the London stage will be a wonderful moment - it is where it all began for me, and I am so excited to be able to share a brand new work with audiences,"

Janet Jackson's VMA breakdown

Janet Jackson's VMA breakdown

Janet Jackson said the realisation of her brother, Michael's, death only hit her three months after his death, as she prepared to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Janet Jackson said the realisation of her brother Michael's death only hit her three months after his death.

The 'Make Me' singer said she had avoided everything that could remind her of her Thriller' singer brother after he suddenly passed away in June, until she was about to perform at the

MTV Video Music Awards in September, when she saw a huge picture in tribute to him.

Janet, 43, said: "It hit me before I was about to do the performance, and it hit me when we were in rehearsal.

"There was a huge image of him on this screen, and I started to cry. I had to step away."

She also said that she is continuing to come to terms with the singer's death, of acute intoxication by the anesthetic Propofol, but that she feels in future things will get easier.

She added: "You know, a day doesn't go by where you don't think about him. It's always there, in every sense. "But it will get better. It's not easy, but I know with time it will get easier. But it will never be easy. It's my brother."

Susan Boyle's debut album soars to No. 1

Susan Boyle's debut album has shot straight in at number one in the UK albums chart.

I Dreamed A Dream has sold over 410,000 copies since its release on Monday, making it the fastest-selling album of the year so far.

The Britain's Got Talent winner has broken the record for the biggest first-week sales for a UK debut album, beating Leona Lewis's Spirit and Arctic Monkeys's Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. She is also in the top five for the biggest first-week sales in general.

Boyle described the news as "fantastic", while Simon Cowell said: "I'm incredibly proud of Susan and delighted for her. This success couldn't have happened to a more deserving person."

Martin Talbot from the Official Charts Company added: "Susan Boyle's achievement is quite phenomenal. After all of the excitement surrounding her appearance on Britain's Got Talent, everyone expected her to make a big impact when she released her first music - but to arrive with such a bang is exceptional."

Elsewhere in the chart, Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster reached number seven, but Rihanna's Rated R failed to make the top ten and charted at number 16.

Last week's number one, Leona Lewis's Echo, dropped to number five, while Robbie Williams's Reality Killed The Video Star fell five places to number nine.

The top ten albums in full:

1. (-) Susan Boyle: 'I Dreamed A Dream'

2. (2) JLS: 'JLS'

3. (5) Black Eyed Peas: 'The E.N.D.'

Cool girl Miley Cyrus

Cool girl Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus thinks she is the "coolest person ever".

The 'Hannah Montana' star is never scared of meeting other famous people because she is far trendier than everyone she knows.

When asked if she gets star-struck, she replied: "No, I'm pretty cool. I'm pretty much the coolest person ever... no, I'm pretty cool. I'm pretty much the coolest person ever."

Although she is a world famous star, 17-year-old Miley does have something in common with her fellow teenagers - she has a crush on 'High School Musical' heartthrob Zac Efron

During an interview with Sirius XM radio show 'The Morning Mash Up', she said: "There are not many things about me that are like a normal teenage girl. But the one normal teenage girl thing is that I think Zac Efron is the hottest person in the world. I really, really like him. And it's weird... it's weird because he's my friend. I think also the reason he is so sexy is because he and Vanessa Hudgens have been together since the first 'High School Musical' and... I think that's really cool."

Zac, 22, isn't the only actor Miley thinks is hot. She quipped: "Johnny Depp is way hotter than Robert Pattinson, for sure."

Private club introduces Chinese rich to luxurious life

Private club introduces Chinese rich to luxurious life

Want a pink private jet and hotel room in Monaco arranged fast? No problem. Well, certainly not for members of Quintessentially, a super-exclusive club that insists: "Nothing is impossible."

The company has won international fame for its 24-hour concierge service, attracting clients such as pop diva Madonna and actress Sharon Stone, and has established successful bases in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.

"Being a Quintessentially member is like having a global personal assistant all year around, 24-7," said Cynthia Chen, media relations manager for Quintessentially China.

What if a client wanted to have dinner with the United States President Barack Obama during his visit to Beijing?

"Of course, we might not be able to arrange a private dinner with him, but we could certainly have arranged for someone to sit in the same dining hall as him," said Chen.

Membership to Quintessentially costs upwards of 38,000 yuan ($5,500) a year, which guarantees a full concierge service from a dedicated team of assistants. The premium packages cost around 300,000 yuan. However, only 50 elite clients are accepted in any one city.

The club has around 200 members in China but receives 20 to 30 new applications a month, Chen said.

It initially attracted clients in Beijing and Shanghai, but people in cities like Guangzhou in Guangdong province, and Hangzhou and Wenzhou in Zhejiang province are now joining.

"The number of affluent people in China is growing fast, so fast they don't really know what to do with all the money they are making," said Chen.

"They know luxurious brands but it's not always the most expensive that is the best. We try to introduce them to the good life, showing them the best products, food and adventures."

Female members tend to use the service to go to private jewelry events or fashion shows, while men are more interested in adventures in the North Pole or driving Bentleys in Siberia, explained Chen.

Despite a frosty economic climate, she said interest in joining Quintessentially China remains high, for personal and professional purposes. While most join to benefit from the global personal assistant services, some use the club to build a network and get contacts that can help with their careers.

"During the financial crisis, many of our members got coaching from us, things like private banking management," Chen said.

"Our youngest members are young CEOs. They want to establish business relationships with others and see the regular networking meetings we hold as great opportunities to do that."

John Mayer wants more sex

John Mayer wants more sex

John Mayer thinks he should be having sex with more girls.

The American musician - who has dated a string of famous beauties including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and most recently former 'Friends' star Jennifer Aniston - is tired of being labelled a womaniser because it makes him feel guilty about dating.

He said: "I should be having sex with more girls. It's crazy to me that in my head being 32 and dating women is going to get me into trouble."

The 'Gravity' singer - who is as well known for his relationships as his music - stops himself from going out with more girls because of the constant public interest in his love life.

He said in an interview with the New York Times newspaper: "I can't even explain to you how terrible that feels, that I equate dating a woman with punishment, shame, guilt, disappointment, reproach, reprimand, persecution. It's a nightmare."

The musician has previously boasted about his sexual conquests online.

He once wrote on Twitter that he'd "slept" with nine science-fiction fans at a comic book convention and that he persuaded "dozens" of women to leave lipstick marks on his face so the paparazzi would think he had several girlfriends.

Singer Alicia Keys hopes to inspire with jewelry line

Singer Alicia Keys hopes to inspire with jewelry line

Singer Alicia Keys arrives at the 2009 American Music Awards in Los Angeles, California November 22, 2009.[Agencies]

NEW YORK - Singer Alicia Keys has won over fans with her music but now the Grammy-winning R&B star is hoping to uplift them by launching her own jewelry collection inscribed with inspirational messages.

Keys has teamed up with Canadian designer Gisele Theriault in a jewelry line called "The Barber's Daughters" which features silver and gemstone pieces with quotes and poetry from iconic figures such as Gandhi, Buddha and Shakespeare.

One of the items, a sterling silver cuff, is inscribed with words of wisdom from the woman herself.

"There's a gorgeous cuff, it's so beautiful, and it says 'I am a superwoman!'," laughed Keys after launching the collection in New York this week although it does not go on sale until 2010.

Keys, 28, said as a songwriter, the progression from putting words with music, to inscribing jewelry, seemed natural.

"As a lyricist I love words and I love things that kind of ... hit you so hard to the heart," Keys told Reuters Television.

"I realized that this was another way to reach out to people and to really bring them inspiration in some way. If people tell me how much they love my music because it's gotten them though a certain time in their life, I felt like this was an extension of music."

The jewelry line is being sold through the Collette Blanchard Gallery in a temporary "pop-up" shop on Manhattan's lower east side. The pieces range from necklaces and earrings, to watches, cuffs and bracelets and are priced from $85 to $2,500.

"My favorite part about them was not only were they individual, one of a kind, something you would really cherish and hold but the words on them affected me so personally, they uplifted me, it made me feel good, want to hold it and wear it like a mantra," Keys said.

Keys is set to release her new studio album, "The Element of Freedom," on December 15.

Theriault has said the name of the jewelry line emanates from growing up in the small coastal town of Cape Breton in Canada, where a name meant nothing and whose child you were meant everything.

Ten things you never knew about Daniel Radcliffe

Ten things you never knew about Daniel Radcliffe

Since winning one of the most coveted roles in movie history at the tender age of ten, Daniel Radcliffe has emerged as one of the biggest, and indeed richest, teenagers on the planet. At just 19-years-old, his Harry Potterfranchise has already scooped 2.7 billion worldwide, he's courted controversy for stripping nakedon both sides of the Atlantic and once admitted to losing his virginityto a much older woman! With the release of the hugely-anticipated Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Princefinally upon us, there's never been a better time to unearth ten quirky titbits about everyone's favourite boy wizard.

1.Daniel Jacob Radcliffe was born on July 23, 1989 in Fulham, London. His mum Marcia was a casting director, while his dad Alan worked as a literary agent.

2.He reportedly beat out a string of young actors, including My Family's Gabriel Thomson, to score the role of Harry Potter. And how did he find out the part was his? "I was in the bath at the time, and my dad came running in and I started to cry. It was probably the best moment of my life." Memorable!

3.After nearly a decade playing the bespeckled hero, it's only understandable that he sometimes forgets who he is. "If there's another person in the room called Harry and somebody shouts their name I do respond slightly, which is embarrassing," he admits. "But no-one has ever said it in the throws of passion. That would be the end of that session. Go now!" Rightly so...

4.Naturally blue-eyed, some fans have questioned why he doesn't wear contact lenses to achieve the bright-green hue his character is famous for. The reason? "We tried contacts in the first film... but they were excruciatingly painful. So I don't think we'll be going back down the contact road if I can avoid it."

5.As a notorious practical joker, he admits to pulling pranks on both the Harry Pottercast and crew. His more infamous achievements include creating a "kick me" sign for co-star Emma Watson to stick to Robbie Coltrane's back and changing the language of his mobile phone to Turkish. Poor man!

6.He suffers from a neurological ailment called dysphraxia that can affect his movements. Although it's only a mild bout, he admits that it sometimes causes him difficulty with tying shoelaces and writing neatly.

7.Despite being one of the wealthiest teenagers in the world, he still maintains an admirable work ethic. "I love being on set and being on stage and I wouldn't do anything to jeopardise that," he insists. "I think in seven years of doing Harry PotterI've missed two days for gastric flu."

8.Being adored by millions of people across the world must be rather lovely, but what does he find the worst thing about fame? "If I had to pick one it's writing the autographs," he says. "It's not the actual writing of the autographs but the fact that my name is too long!"

9.Not content with conquering Hollywood, the multi-talented Dan was recently outed as an aspiring poet! His work has been published under the pen name 'Jacob Gershon', a combination of his middle name and the Jewish version of his mother's maiden name Gresham.

10.Finally, he once revealed that he had quite a unique request for when he dies: "I'd like my ashes to be fired out of a cannon with 'Let him RIP' on the urn. I saw it on TV once. It was brilliant!" Explosive!

Efron 'still cringes over first audition'

Efron 'still cringes over first audition'

Zac Efron has reportedly confessed that he nearly gave up on acting in the early days of his career.

The High School Musical star attended his first casting call at the age of 15 with the producers of a Peter Pan-inspired project, but his acting skills did not impress the Hollywood judges and he was rejected almost immediately.

Contactmusic quotes him as saying: "My first audition ever was for this Peter Pan live-action show when I was 15 and I'd just done the play Peter Pan so I thought, 'Who could be better?'

"I showed up and it was on tape in this tiny room. On stage you speak to the back of the room and you project and Peter Pan is very animated and jumping off things and going crazy so that's what I did in the audition, running around and jumping off my chair, singing the lines.

"This woman interrupted me and goes, 'You've never done this before, have you?' and I went, 'No', and she went, 'OK, you can go', and that was the worst audition ever, ever in my life. I kind of wept about that one."

U2 to make Glastonbury debut

U2 to make Glastonbury debut

'Get On Your Boots' rockers U2 will perform at the Glastonbury music festival next year for the world famous event's 40th anniversary.

U2 are to headline the Glastonbury Festival next year.

The music event's organiser Michael Eavis has signed up the Irish rockers - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. - to perform for the first time at the world famous festival which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year.

A source said: "Everyone is over the moon that the deal has been done. Michael really wanted a huge name for the 40th anniversary and the fact U2 have never played Glastonbury in their 32-year career only adds to the mystique."

The 'Get On Your Boots' hitmakers - who will headline the festival on Friday June 25, in Somerset, England - have been in discussions with Michael, 74, for some time.

The source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Eavis has been asking them for a while now and really stepped up the effort this year. This could be an iconic moment."

Glastonbury tickets sold out just hours after their release last month, even though no acts had been named.

At the time, Michael promised the festival would be full of the world's best musicians.

He said: "There will be three or four superstars. The expectations are really high and we're trying to get the best headliners in the world."

'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' singer Andy Williams recently revealed he had also been booked to perform at the world-famous event.

Veteran rockers The Rolling Stones are favourites to headline the final night of the three-day event, while Radiohead and Beyonce Knowles have also been tipped to appear.

'New Moon' wolfs down $140.7M in opening weekend

'New Moon' wolfs down $140.7M in opening weekend
Actress Kristen Stewart, star of the new film "The Twilight Saga: New Moon", poses at the film's Los Angeles premiere November 16, 2009. [Agencies]

LOS ANGELES – The vampire romance "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" sucked up $140.7 million in its first three days and pulled in a total of $258.8 million worldwide, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The No. 1 domestic debut for Summit Entertainment's "New Moon" was more than twice the $69.6 million haul over the same weekend last year for "Twilight," the first in the franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's novels.

"Obviously, with the success of `Twilight' itself, sequels being what they are will generate X-number of dollars more, particularly if it's a satisfying sequel," said Richie Fay, head of distribution for Summit.

"New Moon" placed third on the all-time domestic chart behind last year's $158.4 million opening weekend for the Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight" and 2007's $151.1 million haul for "Spider-Man 3."

Among the top-10 all-time openings, "New Moon" is the only one that came outside of Hollywood's busiest time, the summer season. The movie adaptation of Meyer's next "Twilight" chapter, "Eclipse," arrives in the heart of summer, next June 30.

On Friday, "New Moon" set an all-time domestic high for opening day with $72.7 million, topping the previous record of $67.2 million by last year's "The Dark Knight.

Overall, Hollywood had its second-biggest non-holiday weekend ever, with final numbers expected to come in slightly behind the $260 million the industry rang up over the weekend of July 18, 2008, when "The Dark Knight" opened.

Compared to the same weekend last year, business was up 59 percent.

Overseas, "New Moon" debuted in 25 countries and took in $118.1 million.

"New Moon" continues the story of teen romance between a school girl and a vampire (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson), with the sequel adding a love triangle with a werewolf (Taylor Lautner).

Meyer's books have been a phenomenon among women and girls. Females made up 80 percent of the audience for "New Moon."

Opening at No. 2 domestically this weekend was the Warner Bros. football drama "The Blind Side" with $34.5 million. The film stars Sandra Bullock in the real-life story of Baltimore Ravens tackle Michael Oher, who was a homeless teen taken in by a wealthy family and enrolled in private school.

As with "New Moon," females were the big fans of "The Blind Side," accounting for 59 percent of the audience, an unusual split for a movie with a sports theme.

"Football happens to be a part of the story, but it's really more about family and inspiration," said Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. head of distribution.

Young males are the backbone of Hollywood business, so "to have two movies with huge appeal for women result in the second-biggest non-holiday weekend ever is amazing," said Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com.

The "Twilight" franchise "taps into something primal and visceral that drives women crazy, and they're willing to pay for the privilege," Dergarabedian said.

The previous weekend's top movie, Sony's disaster tale "2012," slipped to third-place with $26.5 million, raising its domestic total to $108.2 million. Worldwide, "2012" has taken in $449.8 million.

Sony also had the No. 4 entry with a $12.6 million debut for its animated adventure "Planet 51," about a NASA astronaut (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) who lands on a planet of aliens living the innocent life of 1950s America.

Lionsgate's acclaimed drama "Precious: Based on the Novel `Push' by Sapphire" expanded from limited to fairly wide release of 629 theaters, taking in $11 million for an average of $17,500 a cinema. That compared to an average of $34,965 in 4,024 theaters for "New Moon."

In limited release, Penelope Cruz and director Pedro Almodovar's latest collaboration, "Broken Embraces," opened big with $107,597 in two theaters for a $53,799 average. The Sony Pictures Classics romantic drama centers on a blind screenwriter relating the story of a lost love.

Nicolas Cage and director Werner Herzog's dark crime thriller "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" opened with $257,267 in 27 theaters, averaging $9,528 a cinema. Released by First Run, "Bad Lieutenant" is the story of a drug-crazed cop on a manic murder investigation.

The huge spike in business this weekend sets the stage for big crowds over Thanksgiving, one of the busiest periods of the year at theaters.

Along with "New Moon" and other holdover movies such as Jim Carrey's holiday-themed "A Christmas Carol," new releases for Thanksgiving include the Robin Williams-John Travolta comedy "Old Dogs" and the post-apocalypse drama "The Road."

After a strong run in limited release, George Clooney's animated comedy "Fantastic Mr. Fox" expands into nationwide release the day before Thanksgiving.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," $140.7 million.

2. "The Blind Side," $34.5 million.

3. "2012," $26.5 million.

4. "Planet 51," $12.6 million.

5. "Disney's A Christmas Carol," $12.2 million.

6. "Precious: Based on the Novel `Push' by Sapphire," $11 million.

7. "The Men Who Stare at Goats," $2.8 million.

8. "Couples Retreat," $2 million.

9. "The Fourth Kind," $1.7 million.

10. "Law Abiding Citizen," $1.6 million.

Robert Pattinson pines for home

Robert Pattinson pines for home

Robert Pattinson has been at home for less than a day this year.

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' actor said his hectic work schedule means he never gets time to relax at home in London.

He said: "A week ago, perhaps for 16 hours. That was the first time at home in eleven months.

"I met my friends. Some of them I haven't seen for more than a year, and I saw my parents and sisters. To go away from them after such a short time was the hardest thing I had to do in months."

Robert also reminisced about how he used to live in the capital before he found fame.

He added: "I had the best time of my life. I only had a tiny apartment but there were always friends hanging around. Usually five or six people have been staying with me. It felt so wonderfully unconventional.

"That was the life I had always been dreaming of. A bit crazy but adequate for a young actor."

He also said being famous was disconcerting because no matter where he goes he is recognized.

Robert added to Germany's Gala magazine: "I love to travel and to learn from cities and their inhabitants. Nowadays I can go nowhere without having the feeling of being watched 24/7. I do not like this feeling."

Leona Lewis to launch Stella range

Leona Lewis to launch Stella range

Leona Lewis has met with Stella McCartney - the designer daughter of Sir Paul McCartney - to discuss launching an animal friendly fashion range.

Leona Lewis has reportedly been in talks with Stella McCartney on launching an animal friendly fashion range.

The 'Happy' singer recently met with designer Stella - who shares similar views to Leona on the use of animal products in fashion - to discuss the possibility of her releasing her own branded products.

A friend told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper Leona had said: "I'm on a mission. I'd love to promote a line of non-leather bags and shoes that are affordable. I think more needs to be available and not so expensive.

"There's so much I want to do. I've always wanted to have my own fashion line, and that's something I want to focus on next year."

Vegetarian Leona, 24, doesn't wear suede, leather or other animal products and is public supporter of PETA, while Stella has been a long-time vegetarian - just as her father Sir Paul McCartney and late mother Linda McCartney were.

The source added: "Leona and Stella get on like a house on fire. They met at the recent Children In Need charity show at London's Royal Albert Hall. They are both vegetarians, don't wear leather and are huge animal lovers. The line would be very animal friendly."

Meanwhile, Leona's new LP 'Echo' topped the UK albums charts yesterday (22.11.09).

She said: "I'm absolutely thrilled. I put my heart and soul into it, so it's great to get this reaction. I spent nearly nine months recording it, so it's so great to finally let everyone share and enjoy it."

LOS ANGELES - The upcoming debut album by British singing sensation Susan Boyle has become the largest global CD pre-order in the history of Amazon.com, the online retailer said on Thursday.

Boyle's album "I Dreamed a Dream" will be released on November 24 by Sony Music Entertainment. It is the first album since the dowdy 48 year-old church volunteer from Scotland took the Internet by storm with her unlikely star turn on the TV show "Britain's Got Talent" in April.

Amazon said that Boyle's album was not only the top CD pre-order in the United States, but also the biggest around the world in the 14-year history of it's web site.

Amazon declined to give their pre-order figures but said "I Dreamed a Dream" surpassed the 2008 record held by "Supermarket Fantasy" from Japanese rock band Mr. Children, 2007's "Not Too Late" by U.S. singer Norah Jones, and British group Take That's "Never Forget: The Ultimate Collection" in 2008.

"Susan's album is clearly capturing the hearts of our customers around the globe," said Craig Pape, senior manager of music at Amazon.com.

Boyle ultimately lost the final of "Britain's Got Talent" to a dance team, and she was afterward briefly admitted to a private British clinic for exhaustion.

However she was signed to a record deal by "Britain's Got Talent" and "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell and performed one track from the album -- a cover of The Rolling Stone's hit "Wild Horses" -- on "America's Got Talent" in September.

Super Band's last hurrah

Super Band's last hurrah

They now plan to split. But not before two gigs at Beijing's Capital Gymnasium today and tomorrow.

According to Lo, Taiwan's King of Pop, "we made the decision (to eventually split) the moment we started the band."

"We began our mainland tour in Beijing in April and we want to conclude our journey in the same place," adds Lo.

The idea of forming a band came to Lo and Lee over dinner and drinks last winter. Super Band was last year's hottest band, staging 350 concerts and releasing more than 70 solo albums.

"Each of us represents a different musical genre. The concerts offer a great mix, but we'll still retain our individual styles," says Chang, the band's drummer.

They will perform their classic songs, such as Lo's Love Song of the 1990, Lee's Song of Ordinary People, Chau's Friends, and Chang's Thinking of You.

After this last stop, each of them will continue to pursue his own music goal. Lo and Chau plan to work on their new album, Lee on his guitar-making workshop in Beijing, and Chang on producing music.

Eva Longoria's Desperate sex life

Eva Longoria's Desperate sex life

'Desperate Housewives' is affecting Eva Longoria Parker's sex life.

The actress admits she and husband Tony Parker can only get steamy between the sheets at weekends because of her filming schedule in Hollywood and his commitments to his basketball team the San Antonio Spurs, who are based in Texas.

She told Joy magazine: "I work three to four days per week. And then I fly to Texas to spend a long weekend with Tony. So we only have sex during the weekend."

Eva and Tony's lovemaking time is further reduced by her interests away from the US TV show.

The 34-year-old actress has set up her own production company and owns a Hollywood restaurant Beso, which serves Mexican food, and admits she hates not being busy.

She added: "I can never sit still and must always be doing something. I founded my own production company. We have already developed three TV shows and are currently working on two film projects. At the same time Tony and I are building a house in San Antonio and this takes a very long time. Luckily, I inherited my mother's multi-tasking gene. But you have to set priorities!"

Despite her hectic life, Eva is happy being a wife and does anything she can to please Tony.

She said: "I love being married. I'm part of something bigger and more important now. The marriage gives me so much more than my job. Tony and I feel incredibly connected. I love being a housewife. It's great fun. I cook, clean and sew. I even wash Tony's laundry."

'Good diva' Leona Lewis

'Good diva' Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis says she is a "good diva".

The British singer, who has a reputation for being one of the nicest people in pop, says she only has the good characteristics of a diva - which includes having a big voice.

She said: "The term 'diva' has such a negative connotation, but I see myself as a kind of good diva. I'm a next-door diva."

To further prove her "good diva" credentials, Leona insists she doesn't make extravagant demands or make expensive purchases like many of her pop star contemporaries.

'Happy' singer Leona - who spent several months recording her new album 'Echo' in Los Angeles - added in an interview with Petra magazine: "The biggest things I've bought are a house and my two cars. One of the cars is a Mini Cooper. But in Los Angeles I always drive a Hybrid Toyota Prius which is very environmentally friendly."

One star famed for her diva-like demands is Mariah Carey who recently revealed her pet dogs Cha Cha and JJ had their own entourage when she shot a recent commercial.

She previously said: "I had my team with me but the pups had a mini entourage of their own, of course! And why wouldn't they? It was a big shoot and even my entourage had an entourage - my stylist had an assistant, my security had extra security.

"The shoot was based on the fact that some people think I'm a demanding diva. I have no idea why people have that impression!"

Belly dancing baby Shakira

Belly dancing baby Shakira

Shakira claims she could belly dance from birth.

The 'She Wolf' singer is famed for her hip-swivelling abilities and believes it isn't something she ever had to learn, even though she did have lessons as a child.

The Columbian beauty said: "For me, it was, and is, more of a natural thing. It's something that was practically given to me at birth, and for which I never had to train myself. These movements, they are inside me and I can call them back whenever I need them."

Shakira realises she is a sex symbol to men all over the world but insists she is "flattered" that guys find her attractive because she has never believed she is a beautiful woman.

She added: "I must confess that I feel very flattered - because I never have felt particularly sexy. Anybody who shows me like this is promoting my feminine vanity."

But Shakira - who appears virtually naked in the video for 'She Wolf' - admits it's not easy looking as good as she does, and she has to stick to a rigorous training regime to stay slim and sexy.

She added to German magazine Fit For Fun: "I trained really hard for the 'She Wolf' video - almost a month. I wanted to look good and didn't want to shame myself.

"There was no muscle in my body that did not hurt. I was in pain for days, simply because I'd gone too far."

Kristen Stewart insists she isn't dating her 'Twilight' co-star Robert Pattinson.

The 19-year-old actress - who plays Robert's character's lover in the first movie in the series - understands why fans would want them to date in real-life but there is a difference between fiction and reality.

She said of her handsome 23-year-old co-star: "I get why fans want to know more about the cast as real people and they want us to be together and all of that.

"I just have to sort of not think about that. People have a hard time separating us from our characters."

Kristen also confessed she is a control freak and used to worry about how she publicly came across, but now claims she doesn't care what people think of her.

She told Parade magazine: "As soon as I stopped trying to control everything that came out of my mouth and every picture of me that came out, that's when I became so much happier.

"It wasn't like some big turning point, I've just grown into being able not to care as much. I realise that I'm not going to be able to influence the way everybody perceives me."

Rumours of Kirsten and Robert dating circulated again last week after their 'Twilight Saga: New Moon' co-star Peter Facinelli linked a photo of them holding hands at a Paris airport to his Twitter page.

He wrote: "Co-stars caught holding hands. Guess this picture proves everything."

'Twilight' director Catherine Hardwicke also recently claimed the pair were in a relationship, saying: "I didn't have a camera in the hotel room. I cannot say. In terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn't happen on the first movie. Nothing crossed the line while on the first film.

"I think it took a long time for Kristen to realise, 'OK, I've got to give this a go and really try to be with this person.' "

15 documentary features make Oscar's short list
Documentary maker Michael Moore speaks at a health-care conference in Toronto on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. [Agencies]

LOS ANGELES – Of the 89 documentary films eligible for Oscar consideration this year, 15 were selected for a short list of potential nominees, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday.

Some of the year's most popular documentary features were overlooked, including Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story." The R-rated film was praised by critics and earned more than $14 million at the box office.

Also omitted from Oscar consideration was the well-reviewed Mike Tyson documentary "Tyson," the rock-doc "It Might Get Loud," and the story of Vogue magazine and its editor-in-chief, "The September Issue."

The short list of films is determined by a committee of members of the academy's documentary branch. They watch all eligible contenders and vote for their favorites by secret ballot. The top vote-getters make the short list of potential nominees.

The selections this year are "The Beaches of Agnes;" "Burma VJ;" "The Cove;" "Every Little Step;" "Facing Ali;" "Food, Inc.;" "Garbage Dreams;" "Living in Emergency: Stories of Doctors Without Borders;" "The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers;" "Mugabe and the White African;" "Sergio;" "Soundtrack for a Revolution;" "Under Our Skin;" "Valentino The Last Emperor;" and "Which Way Home."

Five documentary features from that list will be chosen as nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards. Nominations will be announced Feb. 2, 2010 and the awards will be presented March 7.

Kate Moss causes slimming storm

Kate Moss causes slimming storm

Kate Moss has been blasted over comments she made in an interview, saying ''nothing tastes as good as skinny feels''.

Kate Moss has sparked controversy after being accused of making comments which could promote extreme slimming.

The supermodel caused outrage after revealing she tries to live by the motto "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels".

She said in an interview on fashion news website WWD: "There are loads of mottos. There's, 'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'. That's one of them. You try and remember, but it never works."

Similar phrases can be found on pro-anorexia websites such as Starving For Control - which can be found at the web address www.freewebs.com/toxicana/tipsandtricks - which carries the slogan "nothing tastes as good as thin feels".

The 35-year-old British beauty - who has a seven-year-old daughter, Lila Grace - has now been accused of encouraging young people to develop eating disorders.

Dr Anthea Fursland, a psychologist who specialises in treating eating disorders, told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper: "The term is used in anorexia websites to reinforce to themselves and each other to pursue thinness.

"I think it could have quite a large impact having someone so famous saying that. She is just giving credence to a belief that we are trying to move away from. If they're at the cusp and feeling vulnerable, that might send them back into the pursuit of thinness."

Model Katie Green - who launched the Say No To Size Zero campaign in the UK earlier this year - also blasted Kate's remarks, warning that websites which encourage eating disorders will "go crazy" over her comments, believing she supports their cause.

She said: "There are 1.1 million eating disorders in the UK alone. Kate Moss's comments are likely to cause many more.

"If you read any of the pro-anorexia websites they go crazy for quotes like these."

Nicole Richie has been hospitalised with pneumonia.

The reality TV star was taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after complaining of feeling unwell and doctors quickly diagnosed her as suffering from the illness.

Her representative said: "Nicole has checked into Cedars-Sinai where she is being treated for pneumonia. She is doing well."

Over the weekend, Nicole - who has two children, 22-month-old Harlow and two-month-old Sparrow with partner Joel Madden - had spoken about not feeling well.

She wrote on her Twitter page: "OK cold, it's been six days. Let's part ways graciously and keep it moving."

Earlier this week, Nicole was granted a restraining order against two paparazzi who she claims caused her recent car accident.

The 28-year-old socialite appeared in court to testify how the two male photographers, Eduardo Arrivabene and Ivon Miguel, had been hounding her constantly.

The judge ruled the two men are to stay 50 yards away from Nicole and her two children for the next three years.

Will Ferrell has topped a list of the Most Overpaid Stars.

The 'Elf' actor and comedian topped the annual list by Forbes magazine, which calculated how much moviemakers earn per dollar paid to their lead actor.

After the last couple of funnyman Will's films - 'Semi-Pro' and 'Land of the Lost' - bombed at the box office, his rate of return has dropped to $3.29 for every dollar of Will's fee.

This contrasts greatly with the other end of the scale, which saw Shia LaBeouf named as the Best Actor for the Buck in August, earning studios an average of $160 for every dollar he was paid.

Behind Will on the Most Overpaid list was British actor Ewan McGregor, while Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson all made the top ten.

However, Will could turn his box office figures around as he recently revealed he wants to make a sequel to 'Anchorman', one of his most successful films to date, about a 1970s newsreader.

The 42-year-old star said: "Yeah we're trying to figure out when and how we should do that. We're going to meet with all the guys and see if we can actually pull this off.

"With Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd, they're in different places with their careers it's a lot harder to get us all together."

Although he did add: "And believe me, I'm not taking a pay cut, no way, absolutely not!"

Forbes magazine's top ten Most Overpaid Stars:

1. Will Ferrell

2. Ewan McGregor

3. Billy Bob Thornton

4. Eddie Murphy

5. Ice Cube

6. Tom Cruise

7. Drew Barrymore

8. Leonardo DiCaprio

9. Samuel L. Jackson

Pamela Anderson's cocaine confession

Pamela Anderson's cocaine confession

Pamela Anderson has confessed to taking cocaine.

The former 'Baywatch' actress experimented with the Class A drug when she was younger but insists she didn't enjoy the effects the illegal substance had on her.

Pamela, 42, said in an interview with British talk show host Jeremy Kyle which airs today (18.11.09): "Well I've tried it and I don't like it. I'm completely hyper and it actually doesn't work for me. I've dabbled in things."

The blonde star - who has two sons, Brandon, 12, and 11-year-old Dylan, from her failed marriage to Motley Crue rocker Tommy Lee - admits she still drinks on occasions and can still "get crazy" when she wants to.

She explained: "I haven't had a drink in a month, I don't drink. Champagne - sometimes I'll drink it and I'll get a little crazy, doing backflips and, you know, wrestling people on the floor, but I'm taking a break right now, my friend calls it 'detox so you can retox'."

Pamela is currently living in a trailer with her sons while her Malibu home is being renovated, and she admits the troubled development has turned into such a nightmare she is going to sell the property.

She said: "I'm going to sell it. I hate it. People commit suicide over constructions. Relationships break down over constructions and I can see why. It rips your heart out."

The actress-and-TV star has spent millions of dollars renovating the house, including having solid gold tiles put down around the pool and platinum tiles laid in other parts of the property, and is being sued by five building firms over unpaid bills.

Robert Pattinson's doggy dream

Robert Pattinson's doggy dream

Robert Pattinson wants to be a dog.

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' actor feels a "deep connection" with canines and if he was to swap from being a human, would want to become a domesticated four legged pet.

When asked what he would like to become, he said: "I think I'd be a dog. The lifestyle of a dog has always fascinated me: You sleep, sit around, get stroked, eat and get walked from time to time. That's great!

"There is a deep connection between me and dogs."

If he couldn't completely transform himself physically and had to settle with getting a different job, Robert, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the movie franchise, would like to be a music producer.

He said: "Being a music producer would be the perfect job for me. Or I would like to write.

"In any case it would be something creative. Perhaps also a stockbroker. I like everything that is hectic."

Robert - who wrote two songs on the soundtrack to 'New Moon' - also said that his guitar is one of the things he can never be without.

He added to Gala.de: "I like to take my guitar everywhere. I'm actually quite frugal but I've bought a 1951 vintage electric guitar after filming 'Twilight' in Vancouver.

"That was the first time in my life that I felt really decadent. Normally, I don't need any luxury. Look at me - I wear the same clothes nearly every day."

Robert Pattinson would get naked on screen for the right role.

The British actor - who plays vampire heartthrob Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' movies - would consider taking his clothes off if he thought the part required it.

He said: "I think it would depend on what it is. And I don't think a lot of people would really want to see that. I think it would ruin the illusion!"

Although he would be prepared to strip for a movie, the 23-year-old star admits he finds nudity embarrassing and struggled when he had to shoot explicit scenes for the 2008 movie 'Little Ashes', in which he played a young Salvador Dali.

He said in an interview with Britain's Star magazine: "It's funny because Spanish people have no problem with nudity at all, and I mean at all. And English people obviously do have the most enormous problem with it.

"Little things, like when I saw my father getting changed for swimming, I was traumatised by it... I kind of freaked out a bit."

Leona Lewis' relationship struggles

Leona Lewis has admitted her relationship is "difficult".

She said: "Well, we're currently happy and together. It's difficult sometimes, I won't deny that, but we make it work. I've been through it - not all relationships are perfect."

The ‘Happy' star also admitted she is unsure about her long-term future with the electrician and has no plans to marry him as yet.

She added: "I don't see us getting married for a long time yet - you really need to be certain with someone before you get married and, besides, my parents only married about four or five years ago so I just don't believe you have to get married to be happy together."

The British beauty also said she doesn't care if people call her boring.

She added to Company magazine: "I still mess around when I'm with friends. But I haven't got a lot of time and we've got so much to do, so my focus is for everything to look good.

Dina Lohan - who has already expressed her fears her daughter may take her own life and has been cutting herself - told ex-husband Michael Lohan how the ‘Mean Girls' had started drinking again and was concerned at what the alcohol would do to her.

She said in a leaked phone call posted on website Radar Online: "Time is running out with this kid. I know I'm her mother and I feel it and I'm scared.

"She'll open up to you but it's nothing compared to what's going on with this kid. And don't tell her I told you anything or try to weasel s**t out of her... she'll tell you when she's ready to talk about s**t. Right now all I know is she's starting to drink and that's bad."

The phone call was made in 2008 and the tape, along with many others, have been leaked by Michael, much to Dina's fury.

In other tapes, Dina told Michael - who is estranged from Lindsay - how the 23-year-old actress had been cutting herself as her life spirals more and more out of control.

Michael recently spoke of his fears for his daughter, saying she has an addiction to prescription drugs which he fears will kill her.

He said: "I want my daughter off prescription medication. She never needed it in her life... I'm not going to watch my daughter die. Hate me now, but you love me more later because I'm gonna turn her life around."

A decade after women flocked to salons for Jennifer Aniston’s “Friend’s” ‘do, a new crop of women are being spotted in shops asking for a Serena, the NY Times reported.

“It’s aspirational hair,” John Barrett, who has a salon above Berdorf Goodman in Manhattan, told the paper.

”[They] don’t just want the hair, they want he life,” he added.

“I didn’t really realize the extent of it,” she told the paper.

“That’s always kind of odd, but unbelievably flattering,” she added.

Taylor's turn: Swift is entertainer of year

Taylor's turn: Swift is entertainer of year

Singer Taylor Swift performs Fifteen at the 43rd annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville on Wednesday. The 19-year-old became the youngest artist ever to win the Association's Entertainer of the Year Award.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee: All four of the guys who lost to Taylor Swift for entertainer of the year at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards on Wednesday made a tactical error: They asked the crossover sensation to open for them in their concerts.

The 19-year-old quickly shed her opener status and shook up the music world with an incredible year that included the best-selling album, a concert tour that sold out almost immediately and, now, a historic night at the CMAs that included becoming the youngest winner of the association's highest honor.

Taylor's turn: Swift is entertainer of year

The CMA's more than 5,000 members seemed as taken with Swift as the rest of the music world has been. She won all four awards for which she was nominated, snapping Kenny Chesney's streak of four entertainer wins in the last five years. Chesney hugged and kissed Swift on her way to the stage.

Association members didn't stop with Swift, making interesting choices in most of the 12 categories. Darius Rucker became the second black performer to win a major individual award when he took new artist, joining Charley Pride, who took entertainer of the year in 1971 and male vocalist in 1971-72.

Lady Antebellum, winners of two awards, ended Rascal Flatts' six-year run in the vocal group category. And Jamey Johnson, known for his outlaw country sound and wild beard, won song of the year for In Color with Lee Thomas Miller and James Otto.

The only winner beside Swift with multiple awards was Brad Paisley, who won two, including male vocalist for the third straight year.

Swift also won album of the year for Fearless, the top-selling CD of the year, and video of the year for Love Story.

After being handed the entertainer trophy by her childhood idol Faith Hill, Swift called her band on stage and was the center of a group hug as fans cheered wildly, holding signs that said: "We love you, Taylor." Her father cried in the audience.

"I'll never forget this moment because in this moment everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me," Swift said through tears.

"2012" set to explode at box office

Cast member John Cusack (R) and Sony Corporation Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President Howard Stringer (C) interact with others at the premiere of the film "2012" at Regal Cinemas LA Live in downtown Los Angeles November 3, 2009.[Agencies]

LOS ANGELES - The end of the world starts Friday.

Sony's apocalyptic actioner "2012," toting a $200 million production cost and hefty marketing expenses, is opening in 105 global territories simultaneous with its domestic debut.

A three-day North American haul in the $55 million-$65 million range looks doable, judging from tracking surveys. But the film's 158-minute running time could restrict the number of daily screenings.

Directed by Roland Emmerich ("The Day After Tomorrow") and starring John Cusack and Woody Harrelson, the effects-laden picture is stirring up broad interest, with male teens displaying the most fervent must-see sentiment.

Early reviews have praised its splashy digital disaster scenes, if not its more pedestrian script, and Sony execs are cautiously optimistic about opening prospects for "2012."

Also Friday, "Pirate Radio" sets sail in about 900 theaters across North America, following a disappointing foreign campaign. The Focus Feature comedy, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as a colorful DJ, looks headed for a bow in the low- to mid-single-digit millions.

Produced for a reported $50 million, the film grossed $28.3 million internationally during the summer, including $10.1 million in Britain. It was written and directed by Richard Curtis ("Love Actually").

Elsewhere, Lionsgate expands the gritty, inspirational drama "Precious" to five additional markets after an auspicious debut in four cities the previous weekend. The studio is eyeing a November 20 national rollout.

LOS ANGELES- Taylor Swift's clean sweep of the Country Music Assn. Awards helped the broadcast reach its biggest audience in four years, according to preliminary figures released on Thursday.

The three-hour show averaged 16.8 million viewers for ABC on Wednesday, up from 15.9 million last year. It marks the highest score since 2005, when 17.7 million people tuned in to the CBS broadcast.

Still, viewership was off by more than half from the record of 36 million set in 1978, when Dolly Parton was named entertainer of the year.

Swift, 19, won that same prize this year, becoming the youngest person to win the show's top honor. She also walked away with a trio of statuettes for female vocalist, album and video.

The CMA ceremony outdrew the rival Academy of Country Music Awards, which pulled in 14.8 million viewers in April. But the Grammys, the music industry's top event, attracted 19.1 million viewers in February.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Darius Rucker became the first black singer to win new artist of the year at the Country Music Association Awards, joining Charley Pride as the only African-American to win a major individual award.

Rucker, whose first country album, "Learn to Live," sold more than 1 million copies, took the stage Wednesday night to wild cheers from the crowd and shouted, "What a year!"

"First of all, to the fans, thank y'all for accepting me," the jubilant Rucker said. "And I think most importantly, to country radio, you took a chance on a pop singer from Charleston, S.C. Thank you so much for that!"

Lady Antebellum won two awards, emerging as the early leader with two trophies after capturing the vocal group and single of the year categories. The win in vocal group ended Rascal Flatts' six-year dominance in that category.

"Rascal Flatts, you've inspired us for such a long time," Lady Antebellum singer Charles Kelly said. "Thank you so much for letting us be up here."

Jamey Johnson, along with James Otto and Lee Thomas Miller, won song of the year for "In Color."

"I never thought you guys would even let me come to things like this," said Johnson, the country bad boy with the scruffy beard, said jokingly as the audience at Sommet Center laughed.

The biggest question on the red carpet Wednesday evening was whether Taylor Swift — this year's top-selling music artist in all genres outside of Michael Jackson — can end Kenny Chesney's reign and become the first female solo artist to win the category since 1999.

"I think that you can't help but talk about Taylor Swift when you talk about modern country music," Otto said. "People talk about pop country or country pop. Whatever brings more fans to country music I'm all for."

Swift, who won video of the year for "Love Story" during the pre-telecast, vies with Zac Brown, George Strait and Johnson for four trophies. Brad Paisley is the leading nominee, up for the biggest awards of the evening, including entertainer, male vocalist and album of the year. He won event of the year for the duet "Start a Band" with Keith Urban, up for five awards.

While the entertainer of the year category has been fairly predictable the last five years, with Chesney winning four out of five times, there seems to be plenty of chatter around Swift, who can also end Carrie Underwood's streak. Swift is competing with her for female vocalist of the year, an award that Underwood has won three straight years.

While there seemed to be a groundswell of support for Swift, longtime watchers wonder whether she'll actually win entertainer of the year.

"Just watching the awards for so many years, I would be surprised if Taylor wins," Vince Gill said as he made his way up the red carpet with Daughtry. "I know people are probably speculating it's too early to win. But that's the beauty of having the ability to vote. You can't got wrong with any of them."

Swift was a favorite with the fans, though, kicking off the show with a playful version of her song, "Forever & Again," throwing a chair off a raised podium, sliding down a poll and dropping to her knees to the delighted cheers of the crowd.

It was the Zac Brown Band that set the room on fire, though, with their high-rev version of Charlie Daniels' "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." The fan favorite had the crowd screaming throughout the performance.

Co-hosts Paisley and Underwood opened the show with a few new songs of their own, skewering Kanye West for his interruption of Swift's MTV Video Music Awards win — "Mama don't let your babies grow up to be Kanye" — and lamenting the break up of Brooks & Dunn.

Lindsay Lohan 'self-harms'

Lindsay Lohan 'self-harms'

Lindsay Lohan's mother claims the actress has been cutting herself.

Dina Lohan told her ex-husband Michael Lohan how their 23-year-old daughter has been self-harming as the 'Mean Girls' star's life spirals more and more out of control.

She told him in a phone call posted by Radar Online: "Her cutting herself and hurting herself? Yeah, it's bad Michael, it's bad."

Dina also told Michael - who is estranged from Lindsay - it would be his fault if anything tragic happened to her.

In the 2008, phone call, she said: "I know that it's going to happen. I will feel it's all your fault, that's how I will feel, it's not about me."

Lindsay has previously been pictured with scars on her arm, prompting fears she is harming herself.

Dina is not the first of Lindsay friends and family to speak out about their worries for her health.

Her assistant Jenni Muro told Michael her fears she will take her own life if she doesn't get the help she needs.

In a phone call to Michael, Jenni said: "I am trying to save your daughter's life every day.

"She is another mess, she's no better than she was two years ago and she knows that. If I wasn't around she would be in grave danger.

"I gave up everything, my boyfriend and my dog and my parents and my new place in LA, everything just so your daughter doesn't kill herself."

Taylor Swift makes CMA history

Taylor Swift makes CMA history

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It's been Taylor Swift's year, and Wednesday was her night as she became the youngest person and the first solo female act in a decade to win the Country Music Association's entertainer of the year award.

Swift won all four awards for which she was nominated, making history on a historic night that included Darius Rucker's win as new artist.

"I'll never forget this moment because in this moment everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me," Swift said through tears as she accepted the association's highest honor during ceremonies at Sommet Center.

The 19-year-old crossover sensation beat the biggest names in country and snapped Kenny Chesney's stranglehold on the category: He won three straight and four of the last five. She also ended Carrie Underwood's three-year dominance in the female vocalist category.

Chesney hugged and kissed Swift on the cheek, then whispered a message in her ear before she received the trophy. She called her band on stage and was the center of a group hug as fans cheered wildly, holding signs that said, "We love you, Taylor"; her father cried in the audience.

"Every single person in that category let me open up for them this year," Swift said. "Thank you all so much. I love you."

Rucker was also a fan favorite, running into the crowd during his performance of "Alright." The Hootie and the Blowfish frontman, who has sold 1 million copies of his first country album, "Learn to Live," became the second African-American to win a major individual CMA.

He joins Charley Pride, who won entertainer of the year in 1971 and male vocalist in 1971-72.

"First of all, to the fans, thank y'all for accepting me," the jubilant Rucker said. "And I think most importantly, to country radio, you took a chance on a pop singer from Charleston, S.C. Thank you so much for that!"

Swift also won album of the year for "Fearless," the top-selling CD of the year, and video of the year for "Love Story."

"You guys, this album is my diary and so to all the people who voted for me for this is a thank you for saying you love my diary because that's the nicest compliment," Swift said.

Brad Paisley, who led all nominees with seven, won two awards, including his third straight male vocalist of the year.

"This was the best time I've ever had at an awards show," said Paisley.

Lady Antebellum also won two awards, for vocal group and single of the year. The win in the vocal group category ended Rascal Flatts' six-year dominance.

"Rascal Flatts, you've inspired us for such a long time," Lady Antebellum singer Charles Kelly said. "Thank you so much for letting us be up here."

Jamey Johnson, along with James Otto and Lee Thomas Miller, won song of the year for "In Color."

"I never thought you guys would even let me come to things like this," Johnson, the country outlaw with the scruffy beard, joked as the audience laughed.

Swift kicked off the show with a playful version of her song, "Forever & Always," throwing a chair off a raised podium, sliding down a pole and dropping to her knees to the delighted cheers of the crowd.

It was the Zac Brown Band that set the room on fire, though, with its high-rev version of Charlie Daniels' "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."

Co-hosts Paisley and Underwood opened the show with a few new songs of their own, skewering Kanye West for his interruption of Swift's MTV Video Music Awards win — "Mama don't let your babies grow up to be Kanye" — and lamenting the break up of Brooks & Dunn.

Later in the show, telecast on ABC, country novelty singer Little Jimmy Dickens interrupted Paisley after Underwood told him that "Welcome to the Future" was one of her favorite videos.

"Excuse me sir, excuse me. I'll let you finish later. Now, Brad Paisley, I know you had a nice video, but ... Taylor Swift made the best video in her time. You go girl," the diminutive Dickens said, goofing on West, who famously took the stage during Swift's acceptance speech to say that Beyonce deserved Swift's prize.

Brooks & Dunn, the best-selling duo who announced their split earlier this year, teamed with ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons on a scorching version of "Honky Tonk Stomp" in what was billed as their last performance at show.

But CMA voters weren't moved by sentiment in the vocal duo of the year category, awarding Sugarland the honor for the third straight year.

"We don't usually expect this but we obviously didn't this year," said Jennifer Nettles, half of the duo that extended an invitation to Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn to come up and speak to their fans, but they declined.

"Well, I will say thank you for what you've done for us, thank you for what you've done for country music," Nettles said before leaving the stage.

Several tributes were paid to veterans with the show falling on Veterans Day. Underwood saluted service members and Randy Houser wore a POW/MIA hat among other nods.
