Angelina Jolie sneaks away from paparazzi

Angelina Jolie sneaks away from paparazzi

Angelina Jolie says she and her kids have to "sneak" out of their house to try and avoid the paparazzi.

The actress - who raises six children, Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, with her partner Brad Pitt - spends most of her time at home to avoid the throng of photographers who follow her wherever she goes.

But she has devised escape routes to escape attention.

The 35-year-old screen beauty told The Independent newspaper: "My real life is 90 per cent contained in my house with my kids, who just think I'm weird. When we are at our best, we are just nutty.

"And the kids want to go out shopping to the market, but you've got 20 people behind you so you just can't. But sometimes we try to sneak out - and sometimes for us the easiest thing to do is sneak out of the front door, because everybody is checking the back door! But you try not to live your life that way - it would drive you nuts."

Angelina - who stars opposite Johnny Depp in 'The Tourist' - also claims the public make wrong assumptions about her personality, often believing her to be a dark character, but she insists she has a soft side which she believes she inherited from her late mother Marcheline Bertrand.

She said: "Sometimes people think of me as being darker, but Johnny has seen me on set giggling; I think maybe a bit of my mom has rubbed off on me, and hopefully I'm a little softer and more female than I'm assumed to be."

Snow cancels Lady Gaga concert in Paris

Snow cancels Lady Gaga concert in Paris

PARIS – Lady Gaga isn't having much luck in Paris.

In October, the pop diva's concerts in Paris were postponed amid nationwide strikes over a government plan to raise the retirement age. One show was rescheduled for Sunday, but it was called off because of snow.

The weather led authorities to ban big trucks from driving through the Ile de France region that includes Paris. Lady Gaga's trucks couldn't get to the venue on time, concert venue Bercy stadium said on its Web site.

A concert Monday is expected to go forward as planned, and the canceled show is likely to be rescheduled for Tuesday, Bercy said.

The diva vented on Twitter, writing that "all 28" of the trucks carrying sets for her elaborate show had been detained. She said had wanted to do a show without the sets, but even sound and power equipment was blocked.

"I am furious and devastated," she wrote, adding that it was "unfair to my fans and to me."

Lady Gaga also wrote that two of her employees were "arrested trying to get into Paris so we could perform," without elaborating. French police, the singer's representatives and the concert venue did not immediately return calls and e-mails seeking comment on that claim.

Nicollette Sheridan drops abuse claims in lawsuit

Nicollette Sheridan drops abuse claims in lawsuit

LOS ANGELES - Remember those bombshell allegations of physical and emotional abuse on the set of "Desperate Housewives" that Nicollette Sheridan lobbed at ABC and the show's creator Marc Cherry in April?

Well, now the actress has agreed to drop the most explosive claims in her $20 million lawsuit against the network and Cherry.

In a joint stipulation filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Sheridan drops her claim for intentional infliction of emotional distress and agrees she won't assert any claim for emotional or physical damages.

In exchange, she won't have to submit to a mental or physical examination.

So what's left in the lawsuit? Sheridan, who sued ABC, Cherry and Touchstone Television in response to her being kicked off the show, alleged assault and battery, wrongful termination and sex and gender discrimination, can still proceed with the case. But her damages could be severely limited. But at least she doesn't have to submit to a psychiatric evaluation.

Angelina Jolie talks "Tourist" and Johnny Depp

Angelina Jolie talks

NEW YORK - What attracted Angelina Jolie to star in "The Tourist?"

"Venice and Paris," the actress joked to The Hollywood Reporter at the NYC premiere of her new film Monday night. "And I've never played a lady really before -- I've played a version of a girl. I found it a real big challenge to play somebody that is extremely European, elegant and very pink with little bows and things that were very foreign to me."

Jolie, who attended the premiere with longtime boyfriend Brad Pitt (who avoided the press line on the red carpet, quipping to THR, "I'm off tonight!"), said her first introduction to co-star Johnny Depp was in this movie.

"We just got put together in the film and we both like each other's movies, but had never met," said Jolie, who donned a white angora Versace dress. "And we met and we talked about kids for the first hour and France for the second and had a good laugh. We really enjoyed working with each other in the film and I hope that comes across."

Depp, who lives in the French countryside with Vanessa Paradis and their children, had a tip for Jolie about the country: " lots of good wine!" Jolie joked.

Jolie says she hopes her film - due out in theaters Friday - "is a pleasure."

"I hope it's one of those movies that has a little bit of everything, that doesn't take itself so seriously, has a good time, and has a bit of romance and a bit of mystery, and a lot of fun, and a lot of different characters," she told THR.

Final Harry Potter movie will be 'like a war film'

Final Harry Potter movie will be 'like a war film'

If "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" felt less frenetic than many fantasy blockbusters, then it was the calm before the storm.

Cast and crew of the hugely successful film franchise have described Deathly Hallows Part 2 -- the eighth and last installment in the boy wizard series due out next July -- as a war movie. And unlike Part 1, it will also be in 3-D.

"In Harry Potter 7 (Deathly Hallows Part 1) ... people keep talking about 'Oh it's an action movie' (but) ... this is so sedate compared to what the next one is going to be like," said British actor Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter.

"The next film, because you've had all the plot set up already, you can just kind of enjoy the insanity of all the action," the 21-year-old told Reuters in an interview.

"The last movie is going to be really, really fast paced and a load of action in it and it is like a war film."

Rupert Grint, who plays Harry's best friend Ron, added:

"Some of the scenes where you've got all the hospital beds and piles of bodies everywhere -- it's really a whole new level for a Harry Potter film. It's going to be epic."

Hollywood studio Warner Bros. decided to divide the seventh and last Potter book by author J.K. Rowling into two films.

Part 1, released in cinemas on Friday but screened to critics and journalists already, follows Harry, Ron and Hermione on their mission to find and destroy the Horcruxes -- the keys to evil Lord Voldemort's immortality.

"CHAOS" ON SET

While there is still plenty of action in Part 1, the actors said they were given more time to explore their characters.

"If we had done this book in one film, the stuff that would have got cut is most of this film," said Radcliffe.

"For me that is the most interesting part of the story, because it's where the characters develop and change.

"My pitch (for Parts 1 and 2) was that it's a road movie that turns into a heist movie that turns into a war film."

But he added that in spite of the "silence and slower pacing" of Deathly Hallows Part 1, it was "the most chaotic to work on by quite a long way.

"It was mad. We all felt the pressure on this film to make it the best, because it's the last.

"Suddenly somebody might wake up one morning and go 'Oh I'm not sure about how my character is in this scene' or the writer would have an idea so we'd be getting re-writes for some scenes the day before they were shot.

"It was constantly moving and had a less settled feel than the other ones had had."

Now that filming is finished, the young actors who grew up on the set of Harry Potter and became A-list stars as well as millionaires as a result, finally have time to reflect.

"It's a really weird feeling," said Grint. "I don't quite know how to react to it. It feels like it's been my whole life and it has kind of taken over my whole life. Now it's finished there's a real sense of freedom.

"I'm excited. It's quite a daunting prospect. We've been in this sort of bubble for the last 10 years and to go out into the real world is really quite scary."

He, Radcliffe and central co-star Emma Watson all said they wanted to continue acting, although Watson is studying at Brown University in the United States and Grint is taking a break.

Beatles climb iTunes charts after catalog debuts

The Beatles soared up the iTunes record charts on Tuesday, with five of their classic albums entering the Top 20 less than 24 hours after the band's catalog was released for the first time on the world's No.1 digital retailer.

"Abbey Road" was leading the pack on Tuesday evening, with "The White Album" and "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" also proving the most popular Beatles album downloads on Apple's iTunes store. The special digital "Beatles Box Set", priced at $149 was also climbing up Top 20 along with the "Blue Album" of greatest hits.

On the U.S. iTunes singles charts, "Here Comes the Sun", "Let it Be" and "Blackbird" were among six Beatles singles moving steadily up the top 100 downloads, according to real-time data on the iTunes website.

Detailed figures on the numbers of U.S. downloads will be available next week from chart tracker Nielsen Soundscan.

Apple's iTunes store on Tuesday released 13 of the albums made famous more than 40 years ago by the Fab Four, ending years of fruitless negotiations between Apple founder Steve Jobs, the Beatles management company Apple Corps, and record label EMI.

Paul McCartney said he it was "fantastic to see the songs we originally released on vinyl receive as much love in the digital world as they did the first time around."

Drummer Ringo Starr said he was "particularly glad to no longer be asked when the Beatles are coming to iTunes" and John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono said it was an appropriate move in what would have been Lennon's 70th birthday year.

In London, the Official Charts Company said it was certain that "their music will make a big impact" on the official UK singles charts, starting on Sunday when weekly sales and download figures are released.

According to Apple Corps, the band had sold more than 600 million records, tapes and CDs of its 1960s songs before Tuesday's iTunes releases.

Taylor Swift worries about her relationships

Taylor Swift worries about her relationships

Taylor Swift worries about being in the wrong relationship.

The 20-year-old singer - who is rumoured to be dating actor Jake Gyllenhaal and whose ex-boyfriends include Taylor Lautner and Joe Jonas - is not prepared to be with someone she believes is wrong for her.

She said: "It's a little strange that I'm typically single a lot. I have a phobia about being in the wrong relationship. So as soon as I establish it's not the right one, I don't want to waste their time."

Despite her relationship worries, Taylor is still "fascinated" by love, though admits she has only recently realised there is no "strategy" to finding romantic happiness.

She added to Allure magazine: "Relationships are fascinating and riveting and completely unpredictable. For me, love is everything.

"I used to think there were all these rules for making people like you. I was filled with advice! I'd tell my friends things like, 'Don't accept that apology! That isn't sincere!' or 'He hung out with his ex-girlfriend? Get rid of him.'

"But love is never that simple. Now I'm finally getting the idea it's the one thing I don't need to have a strategy for."

Brad Pitt plans private wedding

Brad Pitt plans private wedding

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning a small wedding.

The couple - who raise six children, Maddox, eight, Pax, six, Zahara, five, three-year-old Shiloh and 21-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne -are reportedly determined to shield their nuptials from the public and have decided to opt for a low-key affair in order to avoid accusations of wasting money.

A friend of the couple told America's OK! magazine: "Brad and Angelina are exceptionally private people, and they pride themselves on being humble and not wasting money.

"So some over-the-top, beachfront affair with hundreds of guests isn't going to happen."

It has been claimed the couple - who have been dating since meeting on the set of 2005 movie 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' - only decided to get married after their older children begged them to make their union official.

A source close to Brad - who was previously married to Jennifer Aniston - and Angelina said: "First it was Maddox, who has begged his parents to tie the knot for years.

"Lately, Shiloh and Zahara have been chiming in, and Pax thinks it would just be the coolest thing ever to be a ring bearer."

Angelina, 34, has previously admitted she and 46-year-old Brad are expecting the children to eventually start questioning why they had never got married.

She said: "Usually people fall in love and everything revolves around the ritual of marriage, children are an afterthought. We did everything backwards.

"But sooner or later it will be the kids who ask us to get married. You know, they see films and start asking questions. Such as, 'Why are Shrek and his love Fiona married and you're not?' "

Sex goddess Katy Perry

Katy Perry feels under pressure to be a sex goddess - because she is with Russell Brand.

The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer says it's a struggle trying to keep up with her fiance, who was previously famed for his womanising ways, but she tries her best.

She said: "Can you imagine the kind of responsibility I have with his reputation? I'm bedridden most of the week."

The 25-year-old star - who has been dating the British funnyman since last September - also believes she has worked out a formula for his good looks, and part of the attraction is he looks like Jesus.

She said in a magazine interview: "His look is Jim Morrison meets Charles Manson meets Jesus meets a little bit of Elvis Presley. He's a walking genius. Just standing next to him makes me smarter.

"He's good for me. He's not a p***k in any way, shape or form. He's the boss; he calls the shots. I like that. I've been waiting for someone I couldn't steamroll."

Russell, 34, proposed to Katy on New Year's Eve (31.12.09) during a holiday to India with a ring featuring two rubies and the inscription 'The one I've been waiting for'.

The pop beauty was astonished by the personal band, saying: "I love it. I'm glad he didn't go for the 'every other b***h in Beverly Hills is wearing it as well' ring."

Speaking about the proposal, she added: "It involved fireworks, elephants, Indian dancers, horse-drawn carriages and tens of thousands of flower petals."

Julianne Moore puts her family first.

The 'Single Man' actress - who has children Caleb, 12, and seven-year-old Liv with husband Bart Freundlich - will only accept roles that don't take her away from her home in Long Island, New York, for too long.

She revealed: "My family life is incredibly important to me. I want to be with them as much as I can.

"I try to work in New York, or I work in the summer time when my family can come with me.

The days of me doing a big film where I need to be away for months during the school year are over."

Asked whether it meant her missing out on some good roles, Julianne claims to have not noticed.

She added: "It doesn't seem to affect the roles I get. That's the reality of my life so I don't think about it too much."

Belly dancer Sienna Miller

Belly dancer Sienna Miller

Savannah Miller used to dress sister Sienna up as a belly dancer.

Savannah - who now works with her actress sibling on fashion label Twenty8Twelve - admits she would put embarrassing clothes on her for fun.

She revealed: "I'd make her wear purple chiffon harem pants with an M+S bra I'd embroidered myself, and turn her into a little belly dancer.

"Looking back, I can see that we've been working together on clothes in some capacity, for as long as I can remember."

Discussing her collection - which is named after Sienna's birthday - 31-year-old Savannah suggests the focus of the clothes has changed.

She said: "When Sienna and I first started, it was about designing clothes that we would want to wear.

"Now, I feel the clothes are more about what our clients would want to buy, which is not always the same thing. I've learned to understand the customer, while remaining true to who we are."

Savannah also admits to being surprised when she sees people wearing her designs.

She added to the Telegraph newspaper: "I will never forget wondering through Covent Garden one wintry day and seeing this girl wearing one of our poplin summer dresses with black tights and boots, and a chunky black cardigan.

"She looked wonderful in a way I would never have expected; I love that people can take something of ours and make it their own."

"The Hurt Locker" sweeps "Avatar" aside at BAFTAs

LONDON - Iraq war drama "The Hurt Locker" swept 3-D blockbuster "Avatar" aside at the BAFTA British film awards on Sunday, picking up best film and best director among its six prizes and laying down a marker for the Oscars.

The movies, directed by Kathryn Bigelow and ex-husband James Cameron respectively, were both nominated for eight awards at the BAFTAs, and also lead the field heading into next month's Academy Awards with nine nominations apiece.

Bigelow became the first woman to win the best director BAFTA, and said she hoped she would not be the last.

"Women's struggle for equity is a constant struggle, so if this can be a beacon of light, then wonderful," she told reporters backstage after receiving her BAFTA in the gilded splendor of London's Royal Opera House.

Cameron was in the audience, and Avatar, the biggest box office hit in history, won just two awards -- production design and special visual effects. Bigelow played down talk of rivalry between the former spouses.

"It's been a real honor," she said. "Specifically with Jim, we're very good friends. I think we're proud of each other and I think that's there for a long time."

The Hurt Locker, whose budget was dwarfed by that of Avatar as was its box office takings, follows a bomb disposal unit in Iraq, and captures the tension and danger as they seek to defuse bombs in cars, under dirt and strapped to innocent civilians.

"I think we all sensed an amazing responsibility to honor the people in the film and honor a scriptwriter who risked his life to capture the tragedy and chaos of war," Bigelow said.

"I would like to dedicate this to never abandoning the need to find a resolution for peace."

Scriptwriter Mark Boal also picked up the best original screenplay award.

BRITISH ACTORS SHINE

The BAFTAs tend to lean toward British talent more than the Oscars, and they are a far-from-perfect barometer of what happens at the Academy Awards.

But the scale of The Hurt Locker's success will be noted by the industry as well as the media, which has built both the BAFTAs and Oscars into a Bigelow-versus-Cameron duel.

Colin Firth ("A Single Man") and Carey Mulligan ("An Education") made it a home double in the main acting categories.

Best supporting actress went to Mo'Nique for the gritty U.S. production "Precious" and Christoph Waltz won the best supporting actor prize for his chilling turn as a Nazi in Quentin Tarantino's riotous "Inglourious Basterds."

Tarantino was among the stars who turned up for the awards, and also on the red carpet were Kate Winslet, "Twilight" co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson and Prince William, second in line to the British throne.

Stewart won the Orange Rising Star prize decided by the British public unlike the other awards, and prison thriller "A Prophet" topped the foreign film category.

The prince was named as the new BAFTA president, taking over from British director Richard Attenborough.

Veteran British actress Vanessa Redgrave accepted an Academy Fellowship in honor of a career spanning six decades and followed in the footsteps of the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg and Elizabeth Taylor.

Jake Gyllenhaal wouldn't wear sandals in 'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time'.

The 29-year-old actor admits he didn't want the fantasy adventure to be perceived as a "swords and sandals epic" and did his best to avoid stereotyping.

He said: "This is not a swords and sandals epic. It's definitely not that. None of us wear sandals in this movie. I made a very conscious decision and it was very important to me that I did not wear sandals.

"This is a huge, classic epic filled with real characters. It has those wonderful old-school elements you love about film and yet at the same time it's right there on the cutting edge."

Discussing the toned physique he displays in the movie - in which he stars alongside British actress Gemma Arterton and 'Rules of Engagement' star Ben Kingsley - Jake admits it took a look of preparation.

He said: "I worked out for seven months. I wanted to be able to be able to do this stuff. And being intimidating was important. Even if it's just for myself, being confident fighting the stuntmen!"

Organizers announced Tuesday night a lineup that features the Dave Matthews Band, Kings of Leon, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z at the head of a list that includes a little bit of everything.

The festival will be held June 10-13 on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tenn., about 60 miles south of Nashville.

Other top names in the genre-jumping lineup of 125 acts include Norah Jones, Weezer, Jack White's newest band The Dead Weather, Nas (NAHZ) with Damian Marley, and the Flaming Lips will perform Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon."

Bonnaroo also features a formidable comedy lineup led by Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon and Jack Black's Tenacious D.

The headlining slot earned by Kings of Leon is a milestone for the Nashville-area band, which won a Grammy for record of the year for "Use Somebody" last month. They are the first band to start on a tiny tent stage at the festival, then go on to a headline slot.

Buoyed by their platinum-selling album "Only By The Night," they'll likely play in front of 60,000 to 70,000 fans.

The festival also has a strong country flavor this year, with the Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band, Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert and Dave Rawlings Machine. There will also be roots rockers like John Fogerty, the Avett Brothers, John Prine, The Black Keys.

There's even a chance to see a few moonlighting actors with banjo enthusiast Steve Martin performing with the Steep Canyon Rangers and Zooey Deschanel's She & Him performing.

Charlie Sheen back with Brooke

Charlie Sheen back with Brooke

Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller have reunited.

The 'Two and a Half Men' star - who was arrested on Christmas Day (25.12.09) for allegedly threatening Brooke - was reunited with his spouse yesterday (08.02.10) after a judge modified a restraining order and allowed the couple to work out their differences.

The order was put in place after Sheen was charged with felony menacing and misdemeanour charges of third-degree assault and criminal mischief, has been lifted on the condition the 44-year-old actor does not drink alcohol, is in possession of guns or harasses his wife.

Brooke's attorney, Yale Galanter, said the couple had hugged and kissed in Pitkin County Courthouse after the hearing before leaving separately. However, they both planned to return to their Los Angeles home.

Galanter said: "I can tell you, Brooke very badly wanted to have contact with Charlie. There are many children's issues that she wanted to communicate with him about.

"Brooke's desire was to get the order modified so they could have contact and communicate because of their children. Judge Boyd was gracious enough to grant that and now Charlie and Brooke are on their way back to Los Angeles to continue their lives."

The couple - who married in 2008 and have ten-month-old twin boys, Max and Bob - are keen to rebuild their marriage, and have asked prosecutors to drop the case.

They have not cohabitated since the temporary restraining order was put in place following Sheen's arrest.

The actor is due back in court on March 15.

The hotel heiress sparked rumours she has accepted a proposal from former ‘The Hills’ star Doug when she accepted an award for her charity work over the weekend.

During her speech at the Hearts for Hope benefit in Los Angeles, she said: “I'd like to thank my future sister-in-law Casey Reinhardt."

If Doug, 24, has proposed he needs to look no further than his mother for inspiration for a wedding ring.

A source added to E! Online: “At one point, Paris reached for Doug's mom's huge wedding ring. She looked like she was in awe."

Paris, 28, has made no secret of the fact she wants to get married this year.

Speaking about Doug, she said last month: “I wouldn't rule out a wedding in 2010. With how amazing everything is going between us, I see a very bright and happy future.

"He's taught me how real love can feel. Doug's taught me how to grow up and become more domestic, as in not going out as much as I used to."

Doug - who reconciled with Paris last August following a brief split - is also completely smitten with her.

He added: “Paris is the most beautiful girl in the world. She is gorgeous, smart, funny and kind. My family loves her, and she would make the perfect wife."

Her family loves her so much they would even pay to hang out with her – at the Hearts for Hope benefit Casey bid $6,000 to attend a party picnic at Paris’ house.

Nicole Richie always wanted to design clothes and claims her organisation skills come in useful in her new career.

Nicole Richie always wanted to design clothes.

The 28-year-old mother-of-two - who has a jewellery and accessories line, House of Harlow 1960 - doesn't mind working hard to make a name in the fashion industry and believes her organisation skills are perfect for her dream career.

She said: "Clothing was something I always wanted to do. I've been pulling tear sheets from magazines since I was a little girl.

"I'm a Virgo and I'm really good at scheduling. So there are 24 hours in a day and I'm up at 6.30am every day anyway."

Despite having two children - two-year-old daughter Harlow and five-month-old son Sparrow - Nicole insists she does not require a full-time nanny.

She said: "Not full-time, but I do have someone that helps me right now and, well, I have my mom, who's here."

Nicole also revealed she and her partner, Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden, made a conscious decision to have children close together in age.

She explained to Britain's Marie Claire magazine: "I'm 13 years older than my brother and I have a younger sister who is 12, so I think it's really great they're going to have each other."

Victoria Beckham wants baby girl

Victoria Beckham is desperate to have a baby girl.
The singer-turned-fashion designer - who has three sons with her soccer star husband David Beckham - hopes to fall pregnant with her first daughter later this year after the soccer World Cup in South Africa.

The 35-year-old star is thought to have become increasingly broody since her younger sister Louise has announced she is expecting her fourth child.

A source close to the family told The Sun newspaper: "Louise has just told everyone she is expecting and Vic has immediately become broody. She and David have always wanted a girl. He'd love more kids so it's great news."

Victoria's boys - Brooklyn, ten, Romeo, seven, and four-year-old Cruz - are already close in age to Louise's own children and Victoria is believed to be keen to keep this pattern up.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed the couple have donated almost £1 million over the past five years to help disadvantaged children.

Since 2005, the Victoria and David Beckham Children's Charity - which is run by Victoria's mother Jackie - has handed over £913,269 to disabled youngsters.

However, donations to the cause fell dramatically from £102,209 in 2008 to £11,917 last year.

Because of the cash shortage, the charity had to cut back spending from £335,502 to £32,474.

In the 12 months before April 2009, the couple still donated to 12 charities through their fund.

These included the Aids Mobility Centre - who received a £2,487 donation to help with their work providing specialist wheelchairs.

ASPEN, Colo - Actor Charlie Sheen was charged on Monday with assaulting and threatening his wife Brooke Mueller in a heated Christmas Day argument.

But the couple left the court in the Colorado ski resort of Aspen hugging each other, hoping the charges will be dropped, and apparently planning to reconcile.

Sheen, 44, was arrested in the ski resort of Aspen, Colorado on December 25 after Mueller called police and told them he pulled a knife on her during an argument and threatened to have her killed. Sheen spent the day behind bars before being released on bail.

Sheen and Mueller, the actor's third wife, married in 2008 and have infant twin sons.

The star of the CBS hit comedy "Two and a Half Men," was charged with felony menacing, misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief. The menacing charge entails the alleged use of a deadly weapon in a threatening manner.

Sheen could face up to three years behind bars if convicted. He did not enter a plea and another hearing was set for March 15.

Judge James Boyd lifted a "no contact" portion of a restraining order that had barred Sheen from speaking to Mueller or having contact with her. Lawyers for both sides wanted the order lifted.

Mueller, 32, told police in December that Sheen held a knife to her throat and threatened to have her killed when she said she would divorce him and take their children.

At the time, Sheen denied brandishing the knife but admitted crumpling his wife's eyeglasses and said both of them had slapped each other's arms, according to court records.

Mueller embraced Sheen at the end of Monday's brief hearing and the pair left together.

"They hugged in the courtroom, they hugged downstairs and they are hugging in the car," Mueller's lawyer, Yale Galanter, told reporters after the hearing.

"It is Brooke's position that she would like the charges dismissed and this case to be over," he added.

Sheen's film credits include "Platoon" and "Wall Street" but he is best-known for his starring role as a womanizing bachelor on the CBS comedy "Two and a Half Men" -- which has remained one of the most popular shows on U.S. television despite the case.

His Christmas Day arrest is not the first time he has been accused of violence. He pleaded no contest to a 1997 battery charge on his then girlfriend, and his second wife, Denise Richards, obtained a restraining order against him in 2006.

Lawyer: Pitt and Jolie sue over split claim

Lawyer: Pitt and Jolie sue over split claim
FILE - In this May 20, 2009 file photo, Brad Pitt, right, and Angelina Jolie arrive on the red carpet for the film 'Inglourious Basterds', during the 62nd International film festival in Cannes, southern France. [Agencies]

LONDON – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have begun legal action against a British tabloid that reported the celebrity couple was going to split, a lawyer acting on their behalf confirmed Monday.

Keith Schillings, of London-based Schillings lawyers, said in a statement that the couple had begun legal proceedings against the News of The World, a Sunday tabloid and Britain's highest selling newspaper.

He said the newspaper had made "false and intrusive allegations" when it reported Jan. 24 that Pitt and Jolie had agreed to separate, to divide assets worth 205 million pounds ($320 million) and had made arrangements regarding the custody of their six children.

Lawyers for the couple lodged a claim at London's High Court on Monday to begin a legal case against the newspaper, Schillings said.

"The News of the World has failed to meet our clients' reasonable demands for a retraction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets. We have advised them to bring proceedings which they have now done," Schillings said.

He also said Sorrell Trope, a high profile divorce lawyer in Los Angeles, had denied claims she had been in contact with the couple, as had been reported.

"I have had no contact from ... Angelina Jolie and/or Brad Pitt," Trope wrote, according to a letter sent to the couple's lawyers and partially quoted in Schillings' statement. "I have never met ... your clients or had any involvement with either of them. The forgoing is true with respect to all other members of this firm."

Hayley Barlow, spokeswoman for the News of The World, declined to comment on the couple's decision to sue the newspaper.

British laws governing libel have traditionally been seen as friendlier to claimants than those in the United States. British law places the burden of proof on the publisher, unlike libel laws in the United States, which require proof that an article was both false and published maliciously.

On Sunday, Pitt, 46, and Jolie, 34, attended the Super Bowl in Miami with their 8-year-old son, Maddox. They watched the game together from a private box at Sun Life Stadium.

The couple have ties to New Orleans, the home city of the Saints, who beat the Indianapolis Colts. Pitt and Jolie bought a French Quarter mansion in 2007, the same year Pitt founded the Make It Right organization to build houses for low-income residents who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina.

Pitt and Jolie have been partners since they began a relationship while working on the 2005 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston; they divorced in 2005 after five years of marriage.

Jolie was briefly married to Billy Bob Thornton before divorcing in 2003. She was also married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller before they divorced in 1999.

Including Maddox, whom Jolie adopted from Cambodia in 2002, the couple are raising six children: Zahara Marley, Shiloh Nouvel, Pax Thien, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

Orlando Bloom to star in

LOS ANGELES - Orlando Bloom will play the lead in "The Good Doctor," an indie drama for which Michael Pena, Troy Garity, Courtney Ford, Taraji P. Henson, Rob Morrow and J.K. Simmons are in negotiations to co-star.

Bloom also is one of the producers of the Lance Daly-directed picture. The script by John Enbom ("Veronica Mars"), described as a Hitchcockian thriller, centers on a frustrated doctor trying to impress his superiors and colleagues. When an 18-year-old patient, admitted for a kidney infection, provides him with the esteem he so craves, the doctor tampers with her treatment to keep her at the hospital with him.

Pena will play an orderly who discovers the doctor's budding relationship and blackmails him for prescription painkillers. Garity is cast as a successful, self-assured doctor, a counterpoint to Bloom. Ford plays a woman who has eyes for Bloom's character.

Bloom continues to raise his indie film profile. He stars in Mark Ruffalo's "Sympathy for Delicious," which premiered at Sundance, and has wrapped production on "Main Street." On the London stage, he recently starred in the West End production of "In Celebration."

Pena recently wrapped "The Green Hornet," while Garity has IFC's ensemble film "Mercy" in the can. Ford had a recurring role on Showtime's "Dexter," and Henson appears in "Date Night" with Steve Carell and Tina Fey as well as "The Karate Kid."

Rumor: Angelina Jolie had an affair with Lady Gaga

Rumor: Angelina Jolie had an affair with Lady Gaga

According to the latest rumors, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are finished. Expanding upon that rumor is another interesting claim: that Jolie had an affair with Lady Gaga. Ian Halperin, author of the recent bestseller Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, a source close to the actress

told him that there was recently a secret rendezous between the two at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel that lasted all night.

Angie is reportedly "obsessed" with Lady Gaga. Jolie is openly bisexual, and Lady Gaga is a rumored hermaphrodite who has insinuated in the past that she might be open to getting down with both girls and boys.

It's not the first cheating rumor to have plagued Brad and Angie in the past week. Earlier this week In Touch Weekly spoke to a housekeeper that worked extensively with the family on their many visits to the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. Anna Kowalski claimed that Angelina had a series of sex sessions with one of the dialect coaches she worked with on the set of her movie Salt.

Kowalski claimed she walked into Jolie's room and saw her bed covered in various sex toys.Anna said that was enough for her to believe that the actress and dialect coach were having an affair.

Perhaps, however, Brad has given his blessing on the affairs. Jolie, afterall, has spoken of her desire to have an open relationship.

Pierce Brosnan - The spy who snubbed me

Pierce Brosnan has never watched Daniel Craig as James Bond.

The handsome actor - who played the suave spy in four movies until 2002's 'Die Another Day' - hasn't seen Daniel take on the role of 007 in either 'Casino Royale' or 'Quantum of Solace' even though he has tried to see the films.

Pierce said: "I haven't seen Daniel in the role. I tried watching it on an airplane. I thought 37,000 feet was a good distance to watch it from and it broke down right at the beginning. The attendant came and changed it and it broke down a second time, so I figured, 'OK. The Gods must be saying something...' So I never went near it! I just thought, 'Let sleeping dogs lie.'"

After his disastrous attempt to watch one movie, he decided to not even open the box when he was given a copy of 'Quantum of Solace'. He added: "I got the Academy screener for the last one and I turned it on for my boys and I left them to it. I didn't go near it."

Brad Pitt's mother is desperately trying to help save her son's relationship with Angelina Jolie.

Family counsellor Jane Pitt - who is famously close to Brad's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston - is keen for the couple to repair their five-year union for the sake of their six children.

A source told the Daily Mail website: "Brad is trying to cling on to the wreckage of the relationship as he is still very much in love with Angelina and believes they can make it work.

"Jane wants what is best for her son and grandchildren and Angie has agreed to meet her. She has stuck at her own marriage and worked with families for 30 years trying to keep them together."

Jane believes her skills as a mediator will come in useful when speaking to Angelina, who she has become close to in recent months thanks to their joint work in setting up a cancer centre.

It was recently reported Brad and Angelina - who have three adopted children, Maddox, eight, Pax, six, and Zahara, five, as well as three biological kids, Shiloh, three, and 18-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne - were heading for a split after signing a legal document which equally split their $330 million fortune and custody of their kids.

However, sources close to the couple denied this and insisted "everything was fine" between them.

Friends also say the couple are planning to attend the Oscars together in March and have already started planning their outfits.

One pal said: "Angelina and Brad are still very much together. They're even in the process of planning out their Oscar outfits. Brad wanted to make sure he didn't clash with Angelina, who's putting some serious thought into her choices. They are still a couple."

Brad and Angelina - who has been married twice before - got together after meeting on the set of 'Mr and Mrs Smith' in 2004, while Brad was still married to Jennifer.

Bob Dylan to debut paintings

LONDON -- An upcoming show of Bob Dylan's art at the Halcyon Gallery in London will show that, after years of making impressionistic drawings in his downtime, the music legend has finally set out to paint his masterpiece.

Consisting of a dozen acrylic paintings -- the first of Dylan's recent forays onto canvas to be exhibited -- the new work is based on drawings from the "Drawn Blank Series," which the singer made at the outset of his so-called Never Ending Tour, between 1989 to 1992.

Set to open February 13, "Bob Dylan on Canvas" will then travel in September to the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen, where another, larger exhibition of his new paintings will also debut at the Statens Museum for Kunst this fall.

Stewart, Fanning rock movie fans in "Runaways"

Stewart, Fanning rock movie fans in

PARK CITY, Utah - They gained movie stardom playing wholesome young girls, but when fans see Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in upcoming "The Runaways," they will find a new side -- a wild one -- to the teen actresses.

The movie, about the all-girl teenage rock band of the same name co-founded by Joan Jett in the 1970s, debuted here at the Sundance Film Festival late Sunday to solid reviews, and it hits movie theaters this coming March.

When it does, there is little doubt "Runaways" will have audiences buzzing because Fanning and Stewart take them back to the era that made "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll" a cliche.

To see "Cat in the Hat" star Fanning, 15, snort drugs, or Stewart, 19, the lovelorn Bella Swan in the "Twilight" movies swig whiskey from a bottle and sling a guitar over her shoulder, may be a challenge for some audiences.

But the real test will come in their portrayal of a lesbian affair between the two lead characters, Jett (Stewart) and lead singer Cherie Currie (Fanning).

"I didn't even think about it. I still haven't even thought about it." Fanning told Reuters in a joint interview with Stewart.

"She's blocked it out," Stewart chimed in, with a laugh.

"No, no," said Fanning. "It was just another thing that was in the story."

The tale of "The Runaways" is as old as rock itself and deals with a rapid rise to stardom, fan adoration that follows, and a descent into drug and alcohol abuse that, for Currie, ended a career, and for Jett, proved an obstacle to overcome.

The Runaways were formed by guitarist Jett and drummer Sandy West in 1975. They were joined by Micki Steele on bass, Lita Ford on lead guitar and Currie -- all in their teens.

Svengali-like manager Kim Fowley pitched them as the first all-girl rock band, and his savvy marketing -- along with some real talent -- gained them ever-increasing popularity in nightclubs. With hits like "Cherry Bomb," their fame grew.

TRIUMPH AND TRAGEDY

But the price of fame can be high, and soon the girls slipped into a haze of booze and pills. Band members began changing, and after about four years, they broke up.

The movie focuses on Currie, her dysfunctional family and her relationship with Jett, and it serves as both a tragic tale about the price of fame and a triumphant story of Jett's career. She went on to major success with The Blackhearts.

In its review, Daily Variety called it "a conventionally enjoyable making-and-breaking-of-the-band saga."

But the brief affair between Jett and Currie will likely get the major share of media attention when the film hits theaters, much as did the gay encounters between Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger in romance "Brokeback Mountain."

Stewart said that focus is off-the-mark. "The fact they made out when they got crazy back in the day...of course people are going to want to know about stuff like that, but what's more interesting is how much they love each other," she said. "It's not really a romantic relationship. It's a friendship."

Indeed, Sundance audiences buzzed about the story of an all-girl band rising to stardom in male-dominated rock music, as well as the performances and the soundtrack, which includes hits of "glam rockers" such as David Bowie.

Fanning, who captured hearts as a child actor in movies such as "I Am Sam," said what drew her to "The Runaways" was portraying a "real person and real-life things that happened."

"I wasn't familiar with the band before. It really opened my eyes to a whole new thing, a whole new time."

Jett told Reuters it was "surreal" seeing the girls play the parts on-screen, and even though the real story took place in the 1970s, it should resonate with today's audiences.

"People get that sense of the misfits and the outcasts, and I think that's the draw...overcoming adversity and not letting other people tell you who you're going to be in life and to follow you're own dreams," she said.

Sandra Bullock doesn't think Hollywood is filled with big egos.

The US actress picked up the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Leading Actor on Saturday (23.01.10) for 'The Blind Side' and spoke of the humility she has experienced in the movie business.

She told People magazine: "I've met the greatest people. You sit at tables and you look at fellow actors who you've known but you don't know, and everyone is so humble and great. There's not an ego anywhere to be found."

When asked to describe her phenomenal success, the 45-year-old actress could only say she found it "baffling".

Sandra, 45, plays tough foster mother Leigh Anne Tuohy in American football drama 'The Blind Side' - a departure from the romantic comedies she is best known for, such as 'The Proposal' and 'Miss Congeniality' - and said the response to the film has been "overwhelming."

She added: "I love doing what I love doing, but it's not a road that leads to this place. It's just been completely baffling and unexpected and overwhelming and sweet and fun."

Jude Law maturing into happiness

Jude Law maturing into happiness

Jude Law is looking forward to no longer playing Hollywood hearthrobs when he reaches 40.

The 37-year-old actor says he is reaching the end of his screen hunk status and it's up to younger actors to take over the mantle.

He said: "I think it will be interesting to be old. It involves a lot of possibilities. The future doesn't frighten me at all. On the contrary, I am looking forward to it. "If I have a look around at the moment I feel great relief because finally others are entering the limelight. Men like Robert Pattinson must now play the Adonis. For me it was always a restraint, a restriction."

Jude - who has reconciled his romance with one-time fiancee Sienna Miller - insists he never wanted to be known as a heartthrob and felt the female attention he attracted hampered his career.

The 'Alfie' actor said: "My goal was always to be recognised as a good actor but no one was interested in that, simply because society just wants to warm towards your appearance. This is the great blemish of society. "When you suddenly appear on the scene and you are the new face, everything centres on you. I experienced this in my mid-20s and I found it rather hard."

Jude isn't only looking forward to hitting 40, he is also excited about getting even older. When asked what the best thing about getting older was, he joked to the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper: "That you can take a nap whenever you want and that you can finally say everything you really want to say."

He said: "I wouldn't be surprised. Anything is possible. I can't predict the future but anything is possible. Being married to Emma feels great. I'm so happy with her and we try to spend every free minute together."

Bruce and Demi's oldest daughter Rumer has launched an acting career, but the 'Die Hard' star isn't worried about her or his other girls falling foul of the pitfalls of Hollywood.

He told German magazine Bunte: "My children are so smart about Hollywood and understand it much more than I did when I was their age. They grew up in a small town until they were about 12 or 13 years old. So now that they live in Hollywood they see it for what it is. They see the illusion and they know what's real and they know what's not real."

Bruce and Demi - who is married to actor Ashton Kutcher - have remained close since their 13-year marriage ended in 2000, and the action star finds it strange that people are "surprised" by their ongoing friendship. He explained: "We all get along and I find it interesting that people are so surprised that we all get along. But we do."
