Winslet: 'I won't show my breasts anymore'

Winslet: 'I won't show my breasts anymore'

Kate Winslet has claimed that she will no longer appear topless in movies.

The Oscar-winning actress, who showed her breasts in both Titanic and The Reader, admitted that she felt too old to undress on camera.

"I'll be 34 in October. I can't keep getting away with it," she told Harpers Bazaar. "There was so much of it in The Reader because the story required it, but people have seen enough."

The star added that she had also experienced a number of wardrobe mishaps on the red carpet.

"Our knickers will still go up our ass at the most inappropriate moment," she said. "And we'll still want to flick them out, but you can't because someone is going to catch you."

Oscar-nominated American actor Will Smith was spotted in Beijing on Wednesday with his wife and children. But this time, he was not the biggest star.

Smith was escorting Jaden, his 11-year-old son, to meet the crew of the upcoming Sino-American film "Kung Fu Kid", which will feature the award-winning child actor, Sohu.com reported.

The Smiths also met with Jackie Chan, who will play Jaden's mentor. Will Smith will play the antagonist and is also one of the film's producers.

"Kung Fu Kid", a remake of the 1984 American blockbuster "The Karate Kid", will be filmed in Beijing and is expected to be released in June 2010.

Will Smith was nominated for Best Actor Oscar for his performance in the 2006 family drama "The Pursuit of Happyness", in which he worked with his son. The film also won the younger Smith a Breakthrough Performance honor at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards.

Blake Lively 'poisoned Gossip cast against co-star'

Blake Lively 'poisoned Gossip cast against co-star'

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has admitted that she "poisoned" her fellow castmates against co-star Penn Badgley.

The actress, who plays Serena Van Der Woodsen in the drama, told Glamour that she was "so upset" to learn that Badgley had been hired for the role of her on-screen boyfriend.

"At first I was so upset that they hired him. I actually poisoned the whole cast against him," she explained.

"But then they noticed that he was not a jerk and was actually a really nice, charming person. Almost immediately I realised that too, but it took me about a week to admit it."

Lively and Badgley, who are dating in real life, first met when the actress was just 11-years-old.

Cameron Diaz reinvents herself

Cameron Diaz reinvents herself

Cameron Diaz is delighted she has ditched her innocent on screen image.

The 36-year-old actress - who plays a mother whose daughter has terminal cancer in 'My Sister's Keeper' - enjoyed the challenging maternal role because it was completely different to her usual parts.

Cameron - who shot to fame after starring in several hit comic films - said: "I'm not going to be the 23-year-old ingenue again. If I tried to hold on to that, I'd be a pretty unhappy individual. I don't make movies for my ego. I do them for my personal growth and to give something to an audience."

Despite growing close to her 13-year-old 'My Sister's Keeper' co-star Abigail Breslin, the blonde beauty is still unsure whether she will become a mother herself.

She explained: "I don't declare either way if I'm going to have children. I don't know what will happen... and I'm totally fine with that."

Earlier this month, Cameron said she found it easy to empathise with her character Sara Fitzgerald even though she is not a mother herself.

Cameron - who recently split from British model Paul Sculfor - said: "I think we all related to the fact that there isn't anything that you wouldn't give someone that you love that deeply. You do whatever it takes to keep that person alive. I think that that's something that spoke to most of us, for this film, and what I think is so effective in the film."

Brooke Shields' tears for Michael

Brooke Shields' tears for Michael

[Agencies]

Brooke Shields couldn't contain her emotions as she spoke about Michael Jackson at his memorial service.

The tearful actress failed to fight back tears as she paid tribute to the "one of a kind star" she was rumoured to have dated.

Addressing mourners at Los Angeles' Staples Center - including the late singer's family, who were all wearing a single white glove in tribute to his famous stage outfit - Brooke recalled the time the late singer had tried to teach her his famous moonwalk dance and when they tried to sneak a glance at Elizabeth Taylor's wedding dress.

She added: "The picture captions used to refer to us as an odd couple. But to us it was the most natural and easiest of friendships. We made it fun."

She also said she used to tease him about his eccentric way of dressing, joking: "I was like, what's up with the glove? If you're going to hold my hand, it better be the non-gloved one, because sequins really hurt my hand!"

Tearfully recalling that Michael's favourite song had been the Charlie Chaplin-penned 'Smile', Brooke ended her speech by referencing the song, saying: "We need to look up, where he is undoubtedly perched on a crescent moon, and we need to smile."

The 'Billie Jean' star's brother Jermaine Jackson then performed the track.

Prior to a performance of Michael's hit 'Human Nature' by John Mayer, long-time friend of the Jackson family Rev. Al Sharpton credited Michael with uniting different racial groups and making it possible for Barack Obama to become the first black US President.

He said: "It was Michael Jackson that brought blacks and whites and Asians and Latinos together.

"Because Michael Jackson kept going, he created a comfort level, where people that felt they were separate became interconnected with his music.

"Later, it wasn't strange to watch Oprah on television. It wasn't strange to watch Tiger Woods golf. He made people comfortable to vote for a person of colour for president.

"I want his children to know, there wasn't nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with."

Earlier at the service, Jennifer Hudson performed 'Will You Be There' from Michael's 'Dangerous' album and basketball stars Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant recalled their favourite memories of the pop icon.

Poignant service says goodbye to M.J., the man

Poignant service says goodbye to M.J., the man
The Jackson family, from left, Janet Jackson, Paris Jackson, LaToya Jackson, Jermaine Jackson and Prince Michael are shown on stage at the memorial service for music legend Michael Jackson, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. [Agencies]

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson was an entertainment phenomenon both triumphant and troubled, a dazzling performer who transcended barriers, transformed the music world and transfixed fans and non-fans alike in every corner of the Earth.

But Tuesday's memorial was not for that Michael Jackson.

Instead, those closest to the legend gave us a glimpse of Michael Jackson the man.

In a poignant and serene service, the portrait they painted was of a human just as remarkable, making his loss doubly painful to bear for those who truly loved him.

"I just wanted to say ... ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him — so much," said Jackson's 11-year-old daughter, Paris-Michael, before dissolving into tears and falling into the embrace of her aunt Janet.

It was a deeply emotional moment, the most profound part of a memorial that accomplished what Jackson could not in life: humanizing a man who for so long had seemed like a caricature.

How could someone who moved like he moved, sang like he sang, and reached musical heights no person has ever touched be as human as the rest of us? How could a man who threw a wedding for Elizabeth Taylor, had a chimpanzee as a companion, and wore masks to cover his surgically altered face be any part normal?

How can a man who admitted he shared his bed with boys — though he maintained it was never sexual, as others suggested — be a decent man, closer to saintly than devilish?

It took those closest to him, from his brother Marlon to his old friend Brooke Shields, to explain Michael Jackson to those who saw him as a talented freak — an image that deeply pained Jackson.

So while Motown founder Berry Gordy talked about the child prodigy he signed at age 10, and pronounced him not just the King of Pop, but "the greatest entertainer who ever lived," he also talked about the little kid who played catcher during family softball games against the Gordys, who cracked jokes and frolicked in the pool. Magic Johnson talked about the perfectionist who made him achieve higher heights as a basketball player, but also told of sitting around and eating KFC at his home. And Shields talked about a friendship in which laughter was central to it all.

"We had a bond, and maybe it was because we both understood what it was like to be in the spotlight from a very, very young age," Shields said, fighting back tears. "Both of us needed to be adults very early, but when we were together, we were two little kids having fun. ... M.J.'s laugh was the sweetest and purest of anyone I've known."

For Jackson's family and the organizers of the memorial, it was a successful rehabilitation of the image of a superstar who had been derided for so long. The words "sweet" and "pure" had rarely been used to describe Jackson in the last two decades of his life, marked by allegations of child abuse, an ever-changing face, multiple lawsuits, eccentric behavior and what seemed to be one bad career move after another.

Only true Jackson fans, a number that seemed to be dwindling year after year, seemed to remember the man who dazzled us with "Thriller," made us swoon with delight with infectious grooves like "Rock With You" and "Remember the Time," and conversed with presidents, kings and queens.

Tuesday's memorial reminded us of that Michael Jackson, too. The universally revered and admired former South African President, Nelson Mandela, offered words of condolences and love for Jackson in a statement read by Smokey Robinson.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, talked about how Jackson held court with African leaders in his bid to help slow the spread of AIDS there.

And Maya Angelou, who was also represented by her words instead of her presence, offered a loving tribute for the entertainer in remarks read by Queen Latifah.

"He took a pose on his toes for all of us," Angelou wrote, remarking on his worldwide influence from "Birmingham, Ala., to Birmingham, England."

For an entertainer known for his amazing music, song took a backseat to sentiment at the service. But when it was used, it was to great effect. His very biggest hits were not part of the program.

Instead, what we heard were the songs that reinforced Jackson outside of entertainment. Longtime friend Stevie Wonder — who summarized the thoughts of many when he said, "This is a moment I wished I didn't live to see" — sang his own "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer," originally intended as a bitter breakup song but repurposed as a sad goodbye.

Lionel Richie, Jackson's collaborator on the anthem "We Are the World," sang a gospel classic, "Jesus is Love." Another gospel hymn heralded the arrival of Jackson's casket when a choir sang the lines, "Hallelujah, hallelujah, we're going to see the King."

Two of Jackson's songs underscored his humanitarian side — the closing numbers, "We Are the World" and the anthem for his charity, "Heal the World."

Usher's heartbreaking rendition of "Gone Too Soon," which Jackson wrote as a memorial for Ryan White, one of the early public faces of AIDS, captured the pain not only of his fans and friends, but of his family, as the Jackson brothers came together and gripped a sobbing Usher in their arms afterward.

And Jermaine Jackson's version of "Smile," which Michael Jackson had often used as a metaphor for his own tragic life, was a fitting epitaph for his brother.

But perhaps no one lifted up the image of Jackson more than the Rev. Al Sharpton, in rousing, church-like sermon that took Michael Jackson back from the tabloid headlines. Sharpton looked at Jackson's children and declared: "Your daddy wasn't strange — what he had to deal with was strange."

LOS ANGELES – Brooke Shields was 13 when she first met Michael Jackson and the two "instantly became friends" — mainly because sexual tension was off the table.

"Nothing was jaded about him," the 44-year-old actress told Rolling Stone magazine for a special commemorative issue about the King of Pop, on sale Friday.

Shields said the two became close since sexuality wasn't a part of their friendship. She describes her young self as "the most celebrated virgin ever" at a time when women "wanted to throw themselves at (Jackson) and feel like they were going to teach him."

Shields said that as Jackson grew up, "the more asexual he became to me." But he was curious about her early relationships.

"He was like a little kid who talked about the bases — what first base was, what second base was," Shields said. "It sounded very odd to the outside, I can imagine, but to the inside, to someone who's never really left his bubble, you can understand how he would be curious."

Shields said she last saw Jackson in 1991, at Elizabeth Taylor's most recent wedding.

"We snuck in and took pictures of ourselves next to her dress," Shields recalled. "We always seemed to revert to being little kids."

Angelina Jolie is set to star in an advert with David Beckham.

The Oscar-winning beauty has signed a deal with Emporio Armani and the Italian fashion house is keen for her to team up with the handsome soccer star - who has appeared in a number of their campaigns, including some with wife Victoria.

A source said: "When you have David Beckham and Angelina Jolie signed up to your fashion house it's a no-brainer to link them up. "They appeal to a diverse audience and a collaboration would create so much publicity it would push Armani head and shoulders above their rivals.

There are a few contract issues to be addressed but marketing experts are being tasked with coming up with clever ideas for a print campaign." However, bosses are keen to make sure the adverts are not to risque as they don't want to ruin the committed family image both Angelina and David have.

The source added: "The two are exceptionally beautiful on camera but both are in committed relationships so the advert would have to be sexy without offending their partners."

Angelina raises six children with partner Brad Pitt, while David has just celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with Victoria, who he has three sons with. David signed a deal with Armani in 2007, while Angelina was named as their new face two weeks.

Beyonce Knowles wants Sister role

Beyonce Knowles wants to star in 'Sister Act'.

The 'Single Ladies' singer is so desperate to dress up as a nun for a remake of the 1992 movie - which was recently turned into a sell-out musical in London's West End theatre district - she is begging Disney bosses to take up the project.

Britain's Daily Mail newspaper reports: "Beyonce has asked her representatives to persuade Disney to develop the show into a film vehicle for her.

"If this comes to pass, she would take on, in musical form, the part Whoopi Goldberg creates in the 1992 'Sister Act' film, although the stage version moves the action from the West Coast to Philadelphia."

The 27-year-old beauty recently took a break from her UK 'I Am Sasha Fierce tour' to watch the show at the London Palladium theatre.

If the movie project goes ahead, Beyonce will play sexy singer Deloris Van Cartier - the role previously portrayed by Hollywood actress Whoopi Goldberg - who is forced to dress up as a nun while fleeing a group of gangsters.

Beyonce is also in talks about releasing 'Take Me To Heaven', one of the musical's well-known hits.

Filming will not start until after 2011, following the musical's move to New York's Broadway theatre district in late 2010.

US actress Patina Miller is currently playing the lead character in the West End musical which was co-produced by Whoopi.

'Ice Age,' 'Transformers' tie at box office with $42.5m

'Ice Age,' 'Transformers' tie at box office with $42.5m

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Prehistoric creatures and robots were in a photo finish for the Fourth of July box-office crown Sunday, with “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” tied with $42.5 million each.

Final numbers Monday will sort out which movie actually came in first, Paramount’s “Transformers” or 20th Century Fox’s “Ice Age.” Numbers reported during the weekend are estimates based on the studio’s projections for how much business the movies will do on Sunday.

“I’ve seen squeakers before in my time, but never one like this,” said Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com.

In past close finishes, studios have accused each other of inflating their Sunday estimates to gain first-place bragging rights, only to have another movie take the No. 1 spot once final numbers are reported the next day.

“This shows a lot of respect between the two studios,” Dergarabedian said. “They’re just saying `Look, as of right now, it’s too close to call.’”

Universal’s crime saga “Public Enemies,” starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, debuted a solid No. 3 with $26.2 million.

It’s rare when box-office rankings are so close, particularly in summer, when movies typically have huge opening weekends then trail off to make way for the next blockbuster.

But the action adventure “Transformers” held up well from its $109 million debut the previous weekend, while the animated sequel “Ice Age” packed in family crowds.

With a $293.5 million domestic total after just 12 days, “Transformers” shot past Disney and Pixar Animation’s “Up” to become the year’s highest-grossing movie. The sequel reunites human stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox with shape-shifting robots in a war against evil machines.

“Ice Age,” the third installment in the cartoon franchise, brings back voice stars Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo and Queen Latifah as the gang of extinct animals encounter a lost world of dinosaurs underground. Since opening Wednesday, “Ice Age” has taken in $67.5 million.

Other studios generally were tracking “Transformers” and “Ice Age” within a few hundred thousand dollars of each other.

“It’s just so close,” said Bert Livingston, Fox distribution executive. “It all comes down to Sunday for us. We are elated to be in that rarefied air with one of the biggest event movies ever.”

With the Fourth of July falling on Saturday, usually Hollywood’s busiest day, revenues trailed off as people skipped movies to watch fireworks and go to cookouts or other outdoor activities.

“Public Enemies,” starring Depp as 1930s gangster John Dillinger and Bale as FBI man Melvin Purvis, pulled in an audience of older adults who often do not pack theaters for summer’s action tales, family flicks and comedies.

“We felt this was going to be the right moment to insert something with a little bit more substance into the mix,” said Adam Fogelson, Universal’s president of marketing and distribution.

“Up” reached a milestone of its own, its $6.6 million weekend lifting its domestic haul to $264.9 million, passing “The Incredibles” ($261.4 million) to become No. 2 on the Disney-Pixar hit list behind “Finding Nemo” ($339.7 million).

With $10.4 million, the Warner Bros. bachelor-party comedy “The Hangover” became the year’s fourth movie to cross the $200 million mark, climbing to a domestic total of $204.2 million.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Final figures will be released Monday.

1 (tie). “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” $42.5 million. 1 (tie). “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” $42.5 million. 3. “Public Enemies,” $26.2 million. 4. “The Proposal,” $12.8 million. 5. “The Hangover,” $10.4 million. 6. “Up,” $6.6 million. 7. “My Sister’s Keeper,” $5.3 million. 8. “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3,” $2.5 million. 9 (tie). “Year One,” $2.1 million. 9. (tie). “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” $2.1 million.

En Vogue marks 20 years with Essence Fest concert

En Vogue marks 20 years with Essence Fest concert
En Vogue performs during the Essence Music Festival at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Sunday, July 5, 2009. [Agencies]

NEW ORLEANS – En Vogue marked their 20th anniversary as one of music's most successful female groups with a reunion show that electrified the crowd at the Essence Music Festival.

Sunday night's performance featured all the group's original members — Cindy Herron-Bragg, Terry Ellis, Dawn Robinson and Maxine Jones — soaking up an enthusiastic audience that sang along and danced in the aisles.

"It was amazing," Herron-Bragg said of the audience reaction and participation. "I'm just glad we were able to connect with them."

"We're just excited to be together again," Robinson said. "It's like we never missed a beat. It feels normal again."

Known for their hits "Free Your Mind," "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) and "Don't Let Go," the group opened the final night of the festival. They performed a medley of tunes by female artists who inspired them, including Tina Turner, Anita Ward and Aretha Franklin.

Because of time constraints, however, they were unable to sing some fan favorites such as "Giving Him Something" and "Whatta Man" or close the show with "Hold On" and its signature a capella intro of "Who's Loving You," one of their hits that paid tribute to Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5.

"He's the reason why we stand here together," Ellis said of Jackson, who died June 25. "He was the most phenomenal entertainer ever."

Fans were impressed and grateful to see the group back in form.

"We got here just in time to see them and we're so happy to see them back on stage," said Stephanie Griffin, of Sacramento, Calif. "When they split up it was heartbreaking and we always hoped they would get back together."

Yolanda Escobar of San Francisco said the group seemed to still have that magic that launched them back in the '90s. "It was great and they looked good," she said.

Producers Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy created En Vogue, which debuted in 1990. Their perfect harmonies and sexy personas catapulted them into the industry's stratosphere, setting a standard for later groups, like Destiny's Child, and sparking comparisons to previous girl groups like The Emotions and The Supremes.

"We come from a time when 'singing' was the norm," Herron-Bragg said. "I think that's one of the things that continues to draw fans to us."

The group, which sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, has appeared in original form a couple of times since 2007. But they're hoping for a larger comeback later this year with a new album. Ellis said they're also considering a move into reality TV.

"It's just another venue to get our music out there," Robinson said. "The industry has changed. It's not just about getting a record deal anymore. It's about exposure."

"Twenty years in the business is a long time and we've had a lot of fun in the process, but there's also been some ups and downs and we'd like to share some of that," Ellis said.

Pete Wentz dismisses split rumour

Pete Wentz hates groups who write lots of songs.

The Fall Out Boy bassist sparked rumours the band are set to split last week when he said they had no plans for new material, but he now insists they are staying together.

He said: "I think I fuelled that rumour accidentally. I think that when someone asked me if we were working on any new Fall Out Boy songs, I said, 'No, not right now.' "We're working on getting the Blink-182 tour.

Then we'll see where we're standing. "I don't know that the world has to be all Fall Out Boy, all the time. When I see stuff like that with other bands, it sort of drives me crazy."

According to Pete, the band enjoy taking time "to breathe" between albums but have no definite plans on when to start working on their next one. He added to MTV News: "We don't make albums for the sake of making them. So, when the time is right, I'm sure we will."

Angelina beat her partner Brad Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, who came second in the list with earnings of $25 million.

In a statement, the magazine said: "Much of Angelina's earnings came from her share of the profits on 'Wanted', but she also scored a fat upfront cheque for 'Salt', an action film originally slated to star Tom Cruise, in which Jolie plays a CIA agent who is accused of being a Russian spy."

'Mamma Mia' star Meryl Streep was placed third with an income of $24 million, while 'Sex and the City' actress Sarah Jessica Parker came fourth with $23 million in earnings.

Cameron Diaz was ranked fifth generating $20 million, while Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock tied for sixth place after making $15 million each.

Michael Jackson's nursing squad

Michael Jackson's nursing squad

Michael Jackson employed a "day team and night team" of nannies to look after his eldest son.

The 50-year-old pop icon - who died of a suspected cardiac arrest last week - was desperate to ensure Prince Michael was properly cared for after his birth in 1997, so hired 12 people to ensure someone was always with him.

A source who worked at Michael's Neverland Ranch said: "The baby was cared for by a team of six nannies and six nurses, who worked in shifts so that there were always two nurses and two nannies by his side.

"They were kept under constant video surveillance, which was monitored by members of Jackson's security team. The nannies all had special training.

"The day-team did exercise drills with the baby to build up his strength. The night-team read and sang to him."

Michael was reportedly so keen to maintain the wellbeing of his child he ordered the nannies to throw away the boy's toys each evening to guard against germs.

A nanny revealed: "We had to measure the air quality in his room once an hour. When we fed him, all the utensils had to be boiled and were all thrown away after a single use."

Prince Michael was the singer's first child with Debbie Rowe - their daughter Paris is now 11 - but it has been claimed Debbie had little to do with his upbringing.

Debbie - who gave custody rights to Michael in 2005, claiming he was a brilliant father - has previously stated she bore Michael's children as a "gift" to him, and despite recent allegations the kids were conceived using donor eggs and sperm she is adamant she is their mother.

However, it has been reported Michael took his son away from Debbie and returned to Neverland shortly after he was born.

Author J. Randy Taraborrelli claims in his book 'Michael Jackson: The Magic And The Madness': "Six weeks later, the parents posed proudly for photographs with Prince - but it was the first time Debbie had seen the baby since giving birth, and the whole thing was a set-up.

"She was smuggled in for the occasion, given the infant to hold for the cameras - then sent on her way. She was essentially a surrogate and had no part in bringing him up."

One of the Neverland staff reportedly commented: "We never saw her. It was as if he had no mother."

It has also been alleged Michael - who had a third child, Prince Michael II now seven, with an unknown surrogate - gave away many of his children's Christmas presents to stop them being spoilt, and refused to let them look in mirrors in case they became arrogant.

Taraborrelli revealed: "Michael explained that he rationed the youngsters' toys and sent the presents they received as Christmas gifts from his fans to orphanages around the world. He taught them not to refer to any of their toys as 'mine' if friends were over. He wanted them to learn to share.

"He didn't like his children to stand staring into a mirror for too long when getting ready. 'I look great,' young Prince once said as he combed his hair. 'No, you look OK,' Michael corrected him."

Plan to bury Michael Jackson at Neverland fizzles

Plan to bury Michael Jackson at Neverland fizzles

LOS ANGELES – A plan to bury Michael Jackson at his sprawling Neverland ranch fizzled Wednesday, leaving details about his funeral undecided as another mystery was solved: His newly unveiled will says his mother should raise his children, or failing her, Diana Ross.

The changing funeral circumstances thwarted many Jackson fans who had descended on the estate in the rolling hills near Santa Barbara with the hope of attending a public viewing.

"We're terribly disappointed," said Ida Barron, 44, who arrived with her husband Paul Barron, 56, intending to spend several days in a tent.

"We were going to listen to music and watch Michael Jackson DVDs and party all night long, not just to have fun, but in memory of Michael Jackson," Paul Barron said. "Now we're going to have to just go home."

Jackson's 7-year-old will, filed Wednesday in a Los Angeles court, gives his entire estate to a family trust and names his 79-year-old mother Katherine and his children as beneficiaries. The will also estimates the current value of his estate at more than $500 million.

Katherine Jackson was appointed their guardian, with entertainer Diana Ross, a longtime friend of Michael Jackson, named successor guardian if something happens to his mother. Ross introduced the Jackson 5 on the Ed Sullivan Show in the late 1960s and was instrumental in launching their career.

Meanwhile, Jackson family spokesman Ken Sunshine said a public memorial was in the works for Jackson but wouldn't be held at Neverland. In addition, it appeared more likely that a funeral and burial would take place in Los Angeles, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press.

But the person, who is not authorized to speak for the family and requested anonymity, said nothing was planned for Neverland, at least through Friday.

The person said billionaire Thomas Barrack, who owns Neverland in a joint venture with Jackson, sought an exemption to bury the singer at the ranch. But the person says it's a complicated process and it couldn't be done for a burial this week.

"The family is aware a Neverland burial is not possible. They are expected to make decisions about whatever funeral and memorial service" will take place, the person said.

Heavy construction equipment and workers were seen passing through the wrought-iron gates of Neverland on Tuesday. It wasn't clear what they were doing. The property is about 120 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

At once a symbol of Jackson's success and excesses, Neverland — nestled in wine country — became the site of a makeshift memorial after his death.

In Los Angeles, Jackson's lawyer John Branca and family friend John McClain, a music executive, were named in the will as co-executors of his estate. In a statement, they said the most important element of the will was Jackson's steadfast desire that his mother become the legal guardian for his children.

"As we work to carry out Michael's instructions to safeguard both the future of his children as well as the remarkable legacy he left us as an artist, we ask that all matters involving his estate be handled with the dignity and the respect that Michael and his family deserve," the statement said.

The will doesn't name father Joe Jackson to any position of authority in administering the estate.

The executors moved quickly to take control of all of Michael Jackson's property, going to court hours after filing the will to challenge a previous ruling that gave Katherine Jackson control of 2,000 items from Neverland.

Paul Gordon Hoffman, an attorney for the executors, told Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff his clients are the proper people to take over Jackson's financial affairs. He called Katherine Jackson's speed in getting limited power over her son's property "a race to the courthouse that is frankly improper."

Judge Beckloff urged attorneys from both sides to try to reach a compromise.

"I would like the family to sit down and try to make this work so that we don't have a difficult time in court," the judge said. A hearing on the estate was set for Monday.

The will, dated July 7, 2002, gives the entire estate to the Michael Jackson Family Trust. Details of the trust will not be made public.

The documents said Jackson's estate consisted almost entirely of "non-cash, non-liquid assets, including primarily an interest in a catalog of music royalty rights which is currently being administered by Sony ATV, and the interests of various entities."

Jackson owns a 50 percent stake in the massive Sony-ATV Music Publishing Catalog, which includes music by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers.

Jackson was recently in shaky financial health. In the most detailed account yet of the singer's tangled financial empire, documents obtained by The Associated Press show Jackson claimed to have a net worth of $236.6 million as of March 31, 2007.

Jackson, who died June 25 at age 50, left behind three children: son Michael Joseph Jr., known as Prince Michael, 12; daughter Paris Michael Katherine, 11; and son Prince Michael II, 7. Debbie Rowe was the mother of the two oldest children; the youngest was born to a surrogate mother, who has never been identified.

Katherine Jackson was granted temporary guardianship Monday. A judge held off on requests to control the children's estates.

Rowe, who was married to Jackson in 1996 and filed for divorce three years later, surrendered her parental rights. An appeals court later found that was done in error, and Rowe and Jackson entered an out-of-court settlement in 2006.

Neither Rowe nor her attorneys have indicated whether she intends to seek custody of the two oldest children.

Michael Jackson's second autopsy claims

Michael Jackson's second autopsy claims

Michael Jackson's second autopsy reportedly confirms there was no "foul play."

The late singer's grieving mother Katherine Jackson was allegedly reeling last night (30.06.09) as she was told the independent autopsy confirmed the findings of the first examination and found "unique and significant marks and injuries" on his body.

The Jackson family had insisted on a second examination of the 50-year-old star's body, following his death from an alleged cardiac arrest on Thursday (25.06.09), after his father Joe Jackson admitted: "I'm suspecting foul play somewhere."

However, family lawyer Brian Oxman says the second results - which were reportedly broken to Katherine at her home by the coroner who conducted the private examination - were allegedly consistent with the original report.

Brian told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "The second autopsy is done and the coroner came to see Katherine.

"Any autopsy report would note a number of unique and significant marks and injuries on the body of Michael Jackson."

Earlier this week, alleged details of Michael's autopsy were leaked to the public, claiming he weighed just 51kg when he died, was riddled with needle marks, had half-digested pills in his stomach, was completely bald and covered in scars from at least 13 cosmetic procedures.

However, there was some doubt about the authenticity of the report and the Los Angeles County Coroner's office claimed the details were "completely untrue".

Speaking about the two autopsies, Brian added: "Firstly the four puncture marks on his chest from the needle. Well I've seen those marks on his chest - I've seen his body - so I know they're there.

"His weight - we know he was incredibly lean. Regarding baldness, Michael does have a distinctive patch on the side of his head. I know that his brother, who is only six years older, has a similar fuzz from losing his hair and has to dye it.

"Regarding the tablets in his stomach - well we know he was taking a lot of prescription drugs. That hasn't been denied."

Meanwhile, Michael's doctor Dr. Conrad Murray has confirmed the 'Thriller' star received an adrenaline shot to the heart by paramedics at the scene of his rented Los Angeles mansion in an attempt to revive him.

Sienna Miller chooses Cate

Sienna Miller chooses Cate

Sienna Miller says Cate Blanchett will make a "better" Maid Marian.

The British star - who was initially lined up to appear in the forthcoming Ridley Scott blockbuster 'Robin Hood' - is not bitter about losing the part because she believes the 40-year-old actress is "more suitable".

She explained: "There was nothing salacious. The script kept changing and evolving, to the point where I was no longer appropriate for it. Cate's 10 years older than me, which is more suitable for the script.

"If they'd recast it with Keira Knightley, I'd have been heartbroken, but they've gone for something different - and better, in my opinion. If I had the choice between Cate Blanchett and me, I'd go for Cate Blanchett!"

Sienna also admitted she believes the public has a "vendetta" against her.

She explained to Total Film magazine: "There were several people supposed to be doing the film who no longer are, but because it's me it becomes this enormous drama. Is it a British thing? I don't know. I think it's a Sienna thing! There's just a vendetta against - I don't know."

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old beauty says she needs to be more vigilant with her movie role choices.

She said: "Films take two-and-a-half years to come out. I understand why I made them at the time but I'm absolutely not there now. I have to be more strategic in the choices I make."
