Disney announced recently that 3-D versions of the computer-animated "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" will be released in October for a two-week run as a double feature.
Walt Disney is going 3-D on a lot of future films - and some from its past. The studio announced recently that 3-D versions of the computer-animated "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" will be released in October for a two-week run as a double feature. Disney is also preparing a 3-D version of its hand-drawn musical "Beauty and the Beast" for release next February.
Disney's advanced 3-D animated technology version of "Beauty and the Beast" will be released early next year.
The original production crew, which includes Producer Don Hahn and two Directors, Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale, will reunite for the remake. They expect the project to take nine months to complete.
Don Hahn, producer of "Beauty and the Beast", said, "We found some cartoon pictures from seventeen years ago, but set them in brand-new sets, and added some special effects, especially strengthening the dynamic effects of the figures. We hope to give fresh feelings to the film's old fans, and attract some new fans too."
Along with "Beauty and the Beast", the Disney 3-D slate includes Pixar Animation's "Up" to be released in May, as well as Robert Zemeckis and Jim Carrey's adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" in November. Also in production is Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" starring Johnny Depp, and a follow-up to the 1980s sci-fi adventure film "Tron."
And don't forget to mark your calendars. The Pixar mega-hits "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" will be repackaged into 3-D format, and will be released in October.
