Album Review:

by. ERICA FUTTERMAN

On the day Jack's Mannequin finished mastering their 2005 debut, Everything in Transit, frontman Andrew McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia. Already known for his intimate lyrics — Transit aired the details of his breakup with a long-term girlfriend — he addresses his illness head-on. The Glass Passenger is a candid portrait of survival that reunites McMahon with the piano rock of his old band Something Corporate. Album highlight "Caves" begins with a quiet reflection — just falsetto vocals against a piano melody — before the singer erupts over a fury of guitars: "We're not gonna lie/Son, you just might die/Get you on that morphine drip." Elsewhere, lush orchestration adds depth to the ballad "Annie Use Your Telescope" and uplift to the midtempo "Crashin," where McMahon imagines life after recovery. "Even if your voice comes back again," he sings, "maybe there'll be no one listening." He shouldn't worry: With plain-spoken songs like these, he's already made a more honest album than many of his emo peers.

Jack's Mannequin - Spinning (NEW W/ LYRICS)

Jack's Mannequin - Spinning Lyrics

I'm keeping quiet til there's no more sirens
Lately it's hard to keep the hinges on with all the noise
I'll find my words when there's no one talking
The room is spinning, I have got no choice
Be patient, I am getting to the point.

I can't remember when the earth turned slowly
So I just waited with the lights turned out again
I lost my place but I can't stop this story
I've found my way, but until then
I'm only spinning

I'm keeping quiet til the phone stops ringing
Lately it's hard to disconnect, I just want something real
I've found the words if I could just stop thinking
The room is spinning, I have got no choice
Be patient, I am getting to the point.

I can't remember when the earth turned slowly
So I just waited with the lights turned out again
I lost my place but I can't stop this story
I've found my way, but until then
I'm only spinning

Spin beneath the rooftop
Hold on, wait until the room stops
Spinning

I can't remember when the earth turned slowly
So I just waited with the lights turned out again
I lost my place but I can't stop this story
I've found my way, but in the end
We're only spinning

I keep forgetting when the earth turned slowly
So I just waited til the lights come on again
I lost my place but I can't stop this story
I've found my way, but until then
I'm only spinning

Spinning
