'Emotionless' Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan was "emotionless" on a night out without Samantha Ronson.

The 'Mean Girls' star - whose relationship with the DJ is said to be in trouble - was seen at the Apple Lounge in West Hollywood on Jan. 6, 2009 and didn't appear to be enjoying her evening out with friends.

A source said: "She was hanging out in a cabana with owner Allison Melnick and two girlfriends, no Samantha in sight.

"She seemed kind of indifferent, emotionless. It was definitely apparent her friends were trying to cheer her up. It looked to be a 'first night back out on the town' sort of thing."

Earlier in the day, DJ Samantha, 30, was seen looking "sad" walking around Hollywood alone.

An onlooker revealed: "Sam seemed very lost in her thoughts and really unhappy."

It has been claimed Lindsay has moved out of Samantha's house and is staying with her manager.

Earlier this week, Lindsay branded rumours the couple had split up "gross".

The 22-year-old star insisted: "We didn't break up. No. People need to stop creating drama, it's gross."

Lindsay and Samantha were reported to have had a furious row on New Year's Eve , which led to the actress walking out on the DJ.

'Dark Knight' sweeps People's Choice Awards

Christian Bale accepts the favorite action movie award for 'The Dark Knight' at the 35th Annual People's Choice Awards on Wednesday Jan. 7, 2009 in Los Angeles. [Agencies]

LOS ANGELES – Holy People's Choice Awards, Batman!

"The Dark Knight" soared away with every trophy it was nominated for Wednesday at the 35th annual fan-favorite CBS ceremony. The caped crusader flick won five awards, including favorite cast, superhero, action movie and on-screen matchup for Christian Bale's Batman and the late Heath Ledger's Joker.

"On behalf of all of the cast from the movie, thank you very much to the fans," said Bale. "Here's to Heath."

The CBS ceremony was hosted by Queen Latifah and returned to the Shrine Auditorium for its typical star-studded live show format, following last year's writer's strike-friendly, pre-taped program. Stars such as Adam Sandler, Kate Hudson, Robin Williams, Hugh Laurie and Reese Witherspoon showed up to accept their awards at the slightly subdued ceremony.

"It's such a great way to start the new year," Witherspoon, the "Four Christmases" star who won an Oscar in 2005 for portaying June Carter Cash in "Walk the Line," said as she accepted her award for favorite female movie star. "A couple years ago, I won a great award for singing in a movie. This year, I won an award for having a baby throw up on me."

Other recipients selected by Internet voters in categories spanning movies, television and music included "Dancing With the Stars" as favorite reality show, Carrie Underwood as favorite female singer, "House" as favorite TV drama, Brad Pitt as favorite leading man, Angelina Jolie as favorite female action star and Ellen DeGeneres as favorite talk show host.

"I wish I could share this with you," DeGeneres told the audience while clutching her trophy on stage. "I could throw it on the ground and smash it into a million pieces, and give each one of you a little piece of it, but that's violent, and that's probably why you voted for me, because I'm not violent."

Other winners were "WALL-E" for best family movie, "27 Dresses" for best comedy and "The Secret Life of Bees" for best independent movie.

Will Smith was named both the top male action star and best male movie star; Kate Hudson was declared the best leading lady. The best TV comedy was "Two and a Half Men" and the top TV animated comedy was "The Simpsons."

Queen Latifah accepted the favorite drama and independent movie awards alongside her "The Secret Life of Bees" co-star Dakota Fanning. The overly enthusiastic host opened the show by wading through the audience and asking celebrities if they could keep entertaining the masses in 2009. All mimicked President-elect Barack Obama and by answering: "Yes we can."

Naveen Andrews' custody victory

Naveen Andrews

'Lost' star Naveen Andrews has been awarded custody of his son.

The British actor was granted physical and legal custody of his three-year-old son Naveen Joshua Jan. 7, 2009 despite the boy's mother Elena Eustache accusing Naveen's girlfriend Barbara Hershey of practicing witchcraft and poisoning her son.

The 39-year-old actor had shared joint custody with Elena, but a judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court changed the custody order in favour of Naveen after Elena allegedly took the boy out of Los Angeles without permission.

Naveen's lawyer Laura Wasser asked the judge to order Elena to undergo psychiatric testing.

After the hearing, Elena - who sat crying on the courthouse steps - said: "I can't believe celebrities and their money. They always get what they want."

Under the new ruling the toddler can travel to Hawaii - where 'Lost' is filmed - providing he is accompanied by his father or actress Barbara, 60.

The full hearing is due to take place next month.

John Travolta's heartbreaking farewell

John Travolta and Kelly Preston

John Travolta cradled his dead son in his arms and said he was "sorry".

Paramedic Tarino Lightbourn - who rushed 16-year-old Jett to hospital after he was found collapsed at the family's Bahamas hotel following a seizure on Friday - has revealed the actor broke down and clung to his son's body when he was told he had passed away.

Tarino said: "John went behind the hospital curtain, tears in his eyes. I could see the sorrow. I could see the love in his eyes for his son.

"When he was hugging his son he said, 'I'm sorry, Jett.' I think he meant, 'I'm sorry Jett, I did all I could do.' "

When Tarino arrived at the hotel, John was performing CPR on Jett - who suffered from rare Kawasaki disease, which the family say caused his fits - while his wife Kelly Preston looked on.

The medic has revealed the star was crying and praying as he battled to save his son's life.

Tarino explained: "He was crying, his eyes were red. I remember him looking up at the ceiling and saying, 'God, please help me.' "

Jett was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

An autopsy was carried out on Monday and showed his death was caused by a seizure disorder. Jett was cremated this week and qualified pilot John flew his remains back to the family home in Florida yesterday .

The plane landed at Tampa, where a van marked with the logo of Church of Scientology - John and Kelly's religion - picked up the family.

A spokesman for the actor said a wake was taking place last night, with a funeral service planned for Jan. 7,2009.

John's biographer and friend Douglas Thompson has revealed the actor is planning to set up a charity in Jett's name, and will being campaigning against the use of domestic chemicals which he believes caused Jett's Kawasaki disease.

Douglas said: "I couldn't even begin to imagine the hurt and pain John must be feeling. The desire to protect Jett informed everything he did. The loss will be devastating."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are reportedly set to adopt another Ethiopian child.

The couple - who already have three biological children Shiloh, two, six-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and three adopted children, Cambodian Maddox, seven, Pax, five, from Vietnam and four-year-old Ethiopian girl Zahara - are planning to jet to Africa before the end of January to complete paperwork on the new addition to their family.

A source revealed: "Brad and Angelina have seen pictures of a two-year-old girl they'd love to adopt. If everything goes to plan, Angelina will file papers in person in the capital city of Addis Ababa in the New Year and they will pick up their new daughter two days later."

Officials in Ethiopia have confirmed they are expecting the family this month as Brad, 45, and 33-year-old Angelina are planning to visit the AIDS/HIV clinic they founded after adopting Zahara.

A clinic source told Britain's Grazia magazine: "I can't say anything about when they are coming, but yes, when they come to Ethiopia we will expect a visit from them."

Brad and Angelina are said to be keen on extending their brood while their other children are still young.

An insider explained: "Angelina gets a kick from saving kids and giving them this amazing life they would have never had otherwise.

"Yes they might be adding to their family fast but they want all their kids to be roughly the same age so they do the nanny stage and get it over and done with.

"Another kid in the house will make no difference to the noise and chaos they already have."

Kate Hudson's eloping plan

Kate Hudson is planning to "elope".

The 'Bride Wars' star - who is divorced from Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson - has not ruled out marrying again, but wants to avoid the "big production" of a huge wedding.

She said: "Who knows if I will get married again? I wouldn't rule it out though. But I would elope and then have a party."

Kate, who has a four-year-old son Ryder with Chris, also revealed she thinks weddings are often like movie premieres because they are so chaotic.

The 29-year-old actress - who has previously been romantically linked to Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong - added: "It gets so screwed up because you're dealing with two families, you're dealing with your parents - some parents try to stay out of it, but they always have to have their word. You're in an awkward position. It's like a movie premiere. It's a big production."

Kate stars alongside Anne Hathaway in new romantic comedy 'Bride Wars', which tells the story of two friends forced to compete after discovering they have booked their weddings on the same day, in the same location.

Zhang Ziyi 'Enraged' by paparazzi photos

Actress Zhang Ziyi and her fiance Vivi Nevo are seen in a file photo. [File Photo: ent.sina.com.cn]

Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has expressed her resentment over a series of paparazzi photos that show intimate scenes of her and her fiance.

"When she found out about the photos online, she was enraged," an assistant of Zhang surnamed Zhi told the Western China Metropolis Daily on Monday.

A group of 81 photos first emerged during the past weekend on the English-language Website X17online.com, and were spread like wildfire among Chinese Websites thereafter. Some sites even encountered server failure due to an overwhelming number of hits, according to a report on Sina.com.cn.

The photos show scantily-clad Zhang Ziyi and Vivi Nevo sunbathing on a beach. Zhang can be seen topless in several photos. The couple obviously were unaware of the paparazzi and were shown in the photos caressing each other. Sources say the beach was the private property of Zhang's millionaire fiance Nevo.

"It is a matter of personal privacy," Ji Lingling, Zhang's publicist, said in a statement. "Ziyi and her fiance were vacationing on a private beach enjoying a normal part of life," adding the photos were a serious infringement of the couple's privacy.

Ji says the actress is now working to have these photos removed from the Internet, but is yet to consider filing a lawsuit.

The Western China Metropolis Daily cites a Beijing lawyer named Wei Zhen as saying that Zhang could seek legal help to stop commercial Websites from using the photos to attract clicks.

Simon Cowell's visa fight

British "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell smiles during the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium in London in this July 1, 2007 file photo. Cowell said on December 17, 2008 that the apparent suicide of a former contestant and obsessed fan forced him to think "long and hard" about his blunt comments to hopeless singers on the show. [Agencies]

Simon Cowell has hired a team of top lawyers to help get Cheryl Cole a US working visa.

The music mogul - who hired the Girls Aloud singer as a judge on UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' - is so keen to kick start the star's career in America he is doing everything he can to convince authorities to allow her to sing in the country.

Cheryl has been struggling to obtain the essential paperwork after being convicted of assault in 2003.

A source said: "Simon was dazzled by Cheryl's performance on 'The X Factor'.

"He's certain he can turn her into a global star, but he just needs to iron out her visa problem. He's employed a firm of experts in Miami and is confident they will be able to reach some kind of arrangement."

Cheryl confessed to hitting a female toilet attendant in a UK nightclub in self defence - an incident she has recently defended, saying she "would have done it again" - which landed her 120 hours of community service, £500 compensation and £3,000 court costs.

The source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "What Cheryl did was a long time ago and entirely out of character. She has never put a foot wrong since.

"Simon is certain her impeccable behaviour since her conviction should be stressed when they make their next application."

LOS ANGELES – Disney has picked a relative unknown to play the lead role in "Tron," its $150 million sequel to the 1982 cult classic by the same name.

Garrett Hedlund, who has until now acted in larger ensemble pieces such as "Friday Night Lights" and "Eragon," will play a man pulled into the world of a computer. He retraces the steps of a character from the original movie named Kevin Flynn.

Disney cast a wide net to find the right actor. Such potential leads as Ryan Gosling and Chris Pine met on the project, while Michael Stahl-David ("Cloverfield') was among those who screen-tested.

Hedlund has been considered one of those actors on the cusp within the industry. The 24-year-old Minnesota native made his debut in 2004's "Troy," and also appeared in such films as "Four Brothers" and "Georgia Rule."

"Tron," which was previously known as "Tron 2" and "Tr2n," is expected to start shooting in the spring with Joseph Kosinski at the helm.

Jeff Bridges will reprise the role of Flynn, who was a computer programer but ended up as the CEO of a software corporation. Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett have also been cast in the project,
