Movie Review :

By Kirk Honeycutt

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - It's kinda like those ads for automotive additives: Just put Brand X into your motor oil and look at that car spark back to life! In the case of "Fast & Furious," Brand X is Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.

In 2001, "The Fast and the Furious" launched a franchise about illegal street racing that now encompasses four films. Yet "Fast & Furious" is the first true sequel of the bunch. By reuniting the two male stars from the original and -- smartly ignoring the intervening films -- continuing the story from the first film, this new film should re-ignite the franchise.

As with the entire series, the stories serve as an excuse to downshift quickly to chases. But the new film, which opens Friday (April 3), does allow time for the characters to interact and develop so that audience concerns extend beyond who'll win the next race. Box office should be strong for the Universal release, especially among young males -- and their dates might not mind checking out the body work on a buff male cast.

The story by Chris Morgan relies heavily enough on relationships established in the original film that you may want to look at the DVD before taking in the new movie. If not, you'll catch up soon enough. In the earlier film's wild finish, Walker's undercover cop Brian O'Conner, a racer himself suffering from divided loyalties, allowed Diesel's outlaw racer Dominic Toretto to slip across the Mexican border to escape authorities even as he let down Dom's sister, Mia (Jordana Brewster), who had fallen for Brian.

"Fast & Furious" starts off with an action sequence worthy of James Bond's signature openings. Dom and his old L.A. girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) lead a gang of road warriors trying to hijack oil tanks hauled by a big rig on a Dominican Republic highway. As the crews race alongside the truck, the women board them like pirates and uncouple the huge tanks one by one. But the hijacking goes serious awry, ending in a fireball on a mountain road that the heroes escape only by the miracle of top-notch second-unit work, CGI effects and tight editing.

The rest of the story takes place back in Southern California, where Dom returns seeking vengeance after Letty is murdered, having gotten caught up with a vicious drug cartel. Naturally, Brian is also on the case, so the two rivals find themselves reluctantly working together while Brian and Mia discover that the romantic sparks are still there.

Anything is an excuse for a chase. Just to infiltrate the drug gang as drivers, Dom and Brian must participate in a no-rules illegal street race in and around Echo Park, Silver Lake and downtown Los Angeles that destroys half the streets. Just to get a name from an informant, Brian chases the snitch across rooftops, blows through a glass window and crashes two stories onto a car roof. Whatever happened to messages being left in phone booths?

The two major car stunts involve a tunnel beneath the U.S./Mexican border that adds a juicy claustrophobic element to the death-defying maneuvers and crashes. Justin Lin, the returning director from "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," performs a neat balancing act between nonsensical story points and serious dramatic moments, making story and character flow smoothly into hyper action.

All four films feature terrific stunts. But "Fast & Furious" is the first film since the original to be smart about how far to stretch logic without sacrificing the desired macho swagger and revved-up emotions.

Katy Perry "loves" long-distance relationships.

The singer - who split from Gym Class Heroes rocker Travis McCoy earlier this year - prefers not to see her boyfriends every day so she can spend time alone and treasure the days they have together.

She explained: "I love long-distance relationships. I love my space, and that feeling of not being able to see someone and then seeing them again for a week.

"You really appreciate that moment, turning the phone off and cuddling in bed and ordering in food. That's fun to me."

Although the 'I Kissed A Girl' star is currently single, she admits she is already planning for her future.

The 24-year-old brunette beauty added: "When the time is right, I will get married, yes."

Since splitting from Travis, Katy has been romantically linked to a series of musicians, including Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend Benji Madden and 28-year-old singer Josh Groban.

Rihanna's tattoo artist explains her new ink

Rihanna isn't shy about getting tattoos. When she wanted a new one, she flew her friend BangBang, a New York-based tattoo artist, to her home in Los Angeles to give her new ink.

"She flew me out for the purposes of tattooing one of her friends," he said. "I've tattooed her a few times, and she gave me a call and asked if I could come out to her house. I wound up tatting her as well. We've been playing with it for about a year, and I was at her house, and I suggested she finally get the gun."

BangBang - who also did the star tattoos on Rihanna's back, the Roman numerals on her shoulder and the word "Shhh ... " on her finger - said the singer seemed in great spirits when he was at her house. Rihanna has been in the news a lot lately because of an alleged altercation with boyfriend Chris Brown last month.

BangBang said he thinks the gun tattoo represents strength and power. Initially, the duo wanted to put the tattoo below her shoulders near her armpits but changed it to her ribcage because "it takes away from her face. You don't want to be starting at tats. You want to be staring at her face."

Rihanna didn't express any reservation about getting the gun tattoo.

"People are going to react all different ways," BangBang said. Rihanna and BangBang already have more tattoo plans up their sleeves. "We got something planned for this year," he said.

Leonardo DiCaprio's drug advice

Leonardo DiCaprio told Zac Efron to stay off drugs.

'17 Again' star Zac was given a stark warning by his acting peer on the dangers of substance abuse, which left a lasting impression on him.

Zac said: "It was kind of his way-out-the-door, last-minute advice. He said, 'Oh, by the way, if you really want to mess this all up, try heroin.'

"I said, 'Thanks', and he said, 'No, seriously, that's pretty much the only way you're going to screw this up, and you shouldn't go down that road - it will mess you up without fail. Do not do drugs.'

"That was enough for me; that's all I needed to hear."

The 21-year-old actor - who shot to fame in the hit 'Hugh School Musical' films - added his strict upbringing meant he didn't get into the same kind of trouble as his friends growing up.

Rather than misbehave Zac channelled all his energy into skateboarding.

He added: "I could never get into trouble like the rest of my friends. My parents were very strict and taught me good values, whenever I did anything wrong my mom would somehow know it.

"I started skateboarding as a kid - it's like surfing on the sidewalk. I love it. It's a Zen thing, so much better than walking. It's almost spiritual."

'17 Again' is released across Europe from April 10.

Robert Pattinson's smelly denial

Robert Pattinson arrives at the 81st Academy Awards in Hollywood, California February 22, 2009. [Agencies]

Robert Pattinson doesn't smell.

The actor has scoffed at claims he's been upsetting the cast and crew on the set of new movie 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' by not showering, and insists his personal hygiene is exemplary.

When asked about the rumours, Pattinson said: "I do shower! And besides I haven't even been on the set yet!"

The 22-year-old hunk also defended other actors who have been accused of causing a stink on set. 'High School Musical' star Zac Efron was previously reported to go days without washing and refusing to shower even after playing basketball. When told about Efron's alleged hygiene habits, Pattinson said: "Really? He looks like he smells really good."

As well as Pattinson and Efron, other A-list stars accused of smelling bad include Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves and Matthew McConaughey.

Pattinson - who returns as vampire Edward Cullen in the next 'Twilight' film - has also revealed he Googles himself to find out what gossip there is about him on the internet.

He said: "I admit I do look for myself sometimes. I used to do it a lot more before. Now I only look at the negative stuff. I just want to know whoever's saying negative stuff, I want to remember their names. I write it all down in my black book."

Madonna's adoption ruling delayed until Friday

U.S. pop singer Madonna leaves the high court in Lilongwe March 30, 2009. Madonna appeared in a Malawi court on Monday seeking to adopt a second child, a girl called Mercy James, from the southern African country. [Agencies]

LILONGWE, Malawi – A Malawian judge held a closed-door hearing Monday on Madonna's application to adopt a second child from this southern African nation but delayed ruling on the matter until Friday, a court official said.

The 50-year-old pop star spent about an hour in court Monday in the Malawi capital of Lilongwe. Court official Thomson Ligowe confirmed that Madonna's adoption application was adjourned until Friday but said he could not reveal any more details.

Monday's court docket listed only the child's name — Chifundo James, which means "Mercy" in a local language. It was not immediately known whether any of the girl's relatives were present at the courthouse Monday.

A Malawian welfare official and another person involved in the adoption proceedings say the girl is about 4 years old and her unmarried mother died soon after she was born. The girl's father is believed to be alive but no other details were available. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is considered sensitive.

Madonna has not commented on the adoption application and did not speak to reporters Monday morning.

The adoption of her 3-year-old son, David, whom she had met at a Malawian orphanage in October 2006, was finalized last year.

Children's advocacy groups have accused Madonna of wielding her immense wealth and influence to circumvent Malawian law requiring an 18- to 24-month assessment period before adoption. David's adoption was a trying process for the singer, who has said the storm of criticism hurt.

More criticism erupted over the weekend, with the Save the Children UK charity saying the recently divorced superstar risked sending the wrong message by going through with the second adoption. It said adoptions from orphanages encourages poor parents "to abandon children in the hope that they will have a better life."

Some Malawians have said, though, that they support Madonna in her effort to adopt the little girl.

"We are blessed for what Madonna is doing here," said E. Ngulinga, who was among the onlookers gathered outside the courthouse Monday.

"That baby is going to have the advantages of going to school and of becoming someone," he said. "Here it is very difficult."

Ngulinga said he hoped the girl and Madonna's adopted son, David, would return when they were older to help Malawi, an impoverished country where 14 percent of adults are infected with the virus that causes AIDS. The U.N. estimates that half of the 1 million Malawian children who have lost one or both parents have been orphaned by AIDS.

If the latest adoption goes through, Madonna would become a single mother of four. She also has an 8-year-old son, Rocco, with ex-husband and British film director Guy Ritchie and a 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship.

Madonna brought both David and Lourdes to Malawi this time, arriving Sunday. David later spent 2 1/2 hours with his biological father at an exclusive lodge where the pop star is staying.

"I was very happy to see him," the father, Yohane Banda, told The Associated Press, adding that David did not recognize him. "He asked me who I was."

David's mother died when he was a month old. His father has said he believed he could not care for him alone, and that placing him in an orphanage was the best way to ensure David's survival.

On Sunday, Madonna and Lourdes visited the Malawi village of Chinkhota and Madonna spoke to residents and looked over drawings for a new school there.

Madonna first traveled to Malawi in 2006 while doing charity work and filming a documentary on the devastating poverty and AIDS crisis here. Her Raising Malawi organization, founded in 2006, raises funds to fight poverty by providing food, shelter, education and health care for children here.

Last year Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, passed Elvis Presley as the star with the most top ten hits in Billboard history and staged an immensely successful "Sticky & Sweet" world concert tour.

Mariah Carey gets ready for girl

Actress Mariah Carey arrives for the premiere of the film "Push" during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah January 16, 2009. [Agencies]

Mariah Carey has reportedly been buying baby items.

The singer - who is said to have made an offer on a $125 million French Chatreau-style mansion in Los Angeles - has sparked rumours she is expecting a girl after splashing out $200,000 on items including a pink crib and highchair. She has also consulted an interior decorator for advice on styling a nursery.

A source said: "It's 45,000 sq ft and looks like a European castle. It's so big, it can't even be called a mansion - it's similar to Buckingham Palace! "

She has asked interior decorator Kenneth Bordewick to advise on her new home and has requested an all-pink nursery. It's going to be over the top!" Despite planning the baby room, Mariah - who married Nick Cannon in a secret ceremony last year - is not believed to be pregnant.

A source said: "Mariah has tossed around the idea of adopting."

The couple were seen leaving a Beverly Hills' Southern California Reproductive Center earlier this month, where they reportedly met with a prenatal specialist.

Mariah, 38, is said to be desperate to give birth before she turns 40 next March. However, Nick, 28, is not ready to rush into starting a family. He said recently: "We'll have kids soon. Like a couple of years soon."

Studio: Sean Penn to play Larry in `Stooges' movie

In this march 3, 2009 file photo, actor Sean Penn talks during a press conference lobbying the state of California to recognize Harvey Milk Day in San Francisco. [Agencies]

NEW YORK – Sean Penn is going slapstick.

The studio MGM says the double Oscar winner has signed on to play Larry in the Farrelly brothers' big-screen update of "The Three Stooges."

Jim Carrey was "in negotiations" for the role of Curly, said MGM spokesman Grey Munford. The studio first featured the stooges in a series of shorts and features beginning in 1933.

Munford would not confirm reports that Benicio Del Toro will play Moe.

He said said filming begins this fall on the comedy, which is expected to be released in 2010.

The casting of a serious actor like Penn in the assuredly goofy comedy isn't such a stretch: The actor launched his storied career as goofball Jeff Spicoli in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."

Madonna wants to thank all of you that took the time to send in their thoughts for the greatest hits album. We will be online for the next 10 minutes."

Madonna joked: "You obviously love Britney more cause you made an opening film for her show and not mine. I still love you, - going to sleep! - M(sic)"

And as they each try to stay one double-oss ahead, two career loners find their schemes endangered by the only thing they can't cheat their way out of: love.

Movie Review:

By Kirk Honeycutt

Bottom Line: Glossy look at corporate espionage makes for cerebral more than emotional fun.
In "Michael Clayton," his first outing as a director, veteran screenwriter Tony Gilroy used a thriller format to investigate how skullduggery and deceit can corrupt the souls of individuals who do the dirty work of major corporations. His second film as a writer-director, "Duplicity" -- which could just as easily have been the title of his first film -- covers the same territory and again with a thriller format, only this time the whole thing is so tongue-in-cheek that whatever moral dilemma the characters suffer gets subsumed in an elaborate and satirical con game.

The movie is fun, with plenty of intrigue and suspense that will have audiences clutching at their arm rests. With Julia Roberts and Clive Owen top-billed and a host of terrific character actors led by Paul Giamatti and Tom Wilkinson, the film is poised to play strongly to adults in sophisticated markets. The film is also cool in tone though, holding its characters at a distance, perhaps even shaking its head knowingly at their flaws and foibles.

Gilroy certainly likes a busy canvas with a jumble of time frames and a welter of conflicting motivations. This movie has all the moves and countermoves of an old Cold War spy film, only these spies work as corporate operatives for fiercely competitive pharmaceutical giants. In Hitchcockian terms, the "McGuffin" has changed from secret codes to a Doomsday machine to secret formulas for hair shampoo.

The film begins in 2003, when CIA officer Claire Stenwick (Roberts) and MI6 agent Ray Koval (Owen) have a collision with destiny. At a U.S. embassy party in Dubai, she catches his eye, they slip off to his bedroom, she slips him a mickey and tosses the room, taking with her classified documents. He can't get over her, though it's hard to say whether his sexual infatuation trumps his desire for revenge.

In present day, the duo seems to be caught up in a cold war -- lower case -- between two cutthroat corporate CEOs, Giamatti and Wilkinson, based in Manhattan. Further flashbacks establish that the couple has met again in Rome, rekindled their erotic attraction and maneuvered themselves into positions on either side of this corporate war to double-cross their bosses so they might walk away with enough retirement pay for a lush life outside of espionage.

The only trouble is, they still don't trust each other. Ray sees this as a kind of brutal honesty that places them above normal human beings. Nobody trusts anybody, he assures Claire, we're just willing to cop to that basic fact.

Their con game, which sprawls across locations in Italy, England, the U.S. and the Bahamas, is cleverly plotted by Gilroy, who of course is playing his own con game with the audience: Even as you hope against hope that one lover does not betray the other -- both seem so ready to do so -- you know Gilroy is withholding vital information for a surprise ending.

That final twist will satisfy most viewers, but something is missing at the end. What this is is any sense of what's at stake for the protagonists. To pick an example from the Hitchcock canon, you know Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman are desperately in love in "Notorious" no matter how much deception and duplicity exist between them. You have no idea with Gilroy's spy couple.

Gilroy is truly one of Hollywood's best filmmakers when it comes to story. He can create strong characters and breathtaking situations that throw off extreme tension. But his view of humanity contains enough misanthropic cynicism that human tenderness escapes him.

"Duplicity" enjoys superb production values that add to the exhilaration of the film's rush through the familiar yet still welcome territory of movie espionage twists and turns. Gilroy employs nearly every key crew head who made "Clayton" such a slick and compelling thriller. They might have topped themselves here.

Vatican expresses disapproval of "Angels & Demons"

U.S. actor Tom Hanks, Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer and U.S. director Ron Howard (L-R) attend a photocall to promote the movie "Angels & Demons", premiering May 15, at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Meyrin near Geneva February 12, 2009.[Agencies]

ROME - The Vatican might be gearing up for an official call for a boycott of "Angels & Demons," Ron Howard's big-budget follow-up to "The Da Vinci Code."

Avvenire, the Vatican's official newspaper, ran a story in Friday's edition noting that the Church "cannot approve" of such a problematic film. The Turin daily La Stampa, meanwhile, said the Vatican would soon call for a boycott of the film, though the same article also quoted Archbishop Velasio De Paolis, who warned against a "boomerang effect" that could call attention to the film and eventually make it more popular.

The Vatican press office declined comment on the reports when contacted.

Producers requested permission from Church officials to film parts of "Angels & Demons" in the Vatican, but were denied.

Scores of Church officials called for a boycott of "The Da Vinci Code" when it was released in 2006, but that had little effect on the popularity of the thriller, which is based on the best-selling novel by Dan Brown. The film earned an estimated $760 million in worldwide box-office receipts.

"Angels & Demons" features many of the same characters as "The Da Vinci Code," but the story itself takes place before the events portrayed in the earlier film. The film is set to open worldwide May 15.

Julianne Moore's Clinton role

Cast member Julianne Moore arrives for the screening of Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles' film entry "Blindness" on the opening night of the 61st Cannes Film Festival May 14, 2008. [Agencies]

Julianne Moore has been cast as Hillary Clinton in new film 'Special Relationship'.

The actress will star opposite Dennis Quaid - who will play Hillary's husband, ex-US President Bill Clinton - in the movie which will show how Bill's 'inappropriate relationship' with White House intern Monica Lewinsky nearly ended his time in power.

A source said: "This is a big role for both of them. Playing Hillary, a wife who stands by her unfaithful husband, will be something she can get her teeth stuck into."

The former world leader was threatened with impeachment over his liaisons with Monica between 1995 and 1997.

Dennis reportedly beat four other leading actors - Russell Crowe, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alec Baldwin and Tim Robbins - to win the role of Bill.

'Special Relationship' is the closing film of a political trilogy written by Peter Morgan, following 'The Deal' - about Tony Blair's rise to power in the British Labour party - and 'The Queen' which focused on the reaction of the British Royal Family to the death of Princess Diana.

'Special Relationship' will be Peter's directorial debut.

The film will also feature Michael Sheen as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who will be seen growing frustrated with Bill as his attentions move from politics to his own personal crisis.

'Special Relationship' starts filming in the UK and US in July.

Keira Knightley rents shoes to satisfy her footwear fetish.

The global economic downturn has forced 'The Duchess' star to cut down on the number of designer high heels she buys, so she has started borrowing shoes instead.

The 23-year-old actress said: "I think when I was very young and I suddenly started earning a bit of money and I could actually afford to buy shoes, I got very excited and bought a lot. I mean a lot!

"I haven't bought any in quite a while. Now I just rent them for the day. They give them to me for the day and I give them back in the evening, which is good."

Keira recently revealed she is only attracted to men with good taste in shoes.

The British beauty - who has been dating 'The Young Victoria' star Rupert Friend for three years - finds fancy footwear sexy and demands her lovers take pride in their feet.

Mischa Barton is "not a huge fan" of marriage.

The actress believes officially cementing a union can cause relationships to break down because people don't feel the need to work at them anymore.

She said: "I'm not a huge fan of marriage. It puts too much pressure on the relationship. People try harder until they're married and then you see a lot of relationships fall apart because it's the last step. There's nothing left."

However, Mischa - who recently split from British rocker, Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard - believes she will decide to settle down eventually.

The 23-year-old beauty added: "Whoever is going to be the father of my children I'll probably inevitably marry - but that's not on the cards any time soon."

Mischa recently revealed she is attracted to men who are confident enough to flirt with her and can make her laugh.

The former 'O.C.' actress said: "I have noticed that some men are scared of me because I have been on television. I have quite a few diehard fans.

"I find men with confidence and a great sense of humour very attractive. Those are the two factors that matter the most."

Rihanna's sex tape?

Rihanna and Chris Brown have reportedly made a sex tape.

The 'Umbrella' singer and her 19-year-old boyfriend - who has been charged with felony assault and making criminal threats following his alleged assault on her last month - are said to have filmed themselves engaging in a series of "kinky" acts.

A source told America's Star magazine: "Chris and Rihanna enjoy an aggressive love life that would shock many people. Rihanna loves dressing up - including as a dominatrix - and role playing. They both have kinky sides."

Rihanna - who reconciled with Chris shortly after their altercation, but is now said to be taking time away from him to contemplate their relationship - has become increasingly concerned the footage could be made public and is desperate to keep it under wraps.

The source added: "Rihanna has no issues with her sexuality. She can be really out there. But she'd be mortified if her friends and family found this out.

"Rihanna isn't always the little goody-two-shoes everyone thinks she is, and Chris doesn't want or need another scandal."

Chris is accused of hitting, biting and choking Rihanna until she was unconscious in his rented silver Lamborghini.

The pair are not the first famous faces to film their bedroom antics, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's homemade video was famously made public when their home was burgled.

Paris Hilton, Colin Farrell and Tom Sizemore have all also appeared in sex tapes.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has been spotted cosying up to 'That 70s Show' actor Wilmer Valderrama at Los Angeles nightspot Les Deux.

An onlooker said: "I couldn't tell whether they were kissing or just talking really close together, but something was definitely going on there."

Katy Perry's monkey trouble

Katy Perry was mortified when a chimpanzee urinated on her.

The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer was posing for a magazine shoot, when the lively animal - which was on the set for the photo shoot - relieved itself on her.

She wrote on her blog: "Jeremy Scott is one of my all time favourites and he shot the pictures while I got to prance around in his creations. I had a chimp on set with me that day. Fun fact, she peed all over me, I had to take a silkwood shower in the middle of shooting."

Katy is not the first celebrity to have an unfortunate encounter with a chimpanzee.

Last year, it was revealed Christina Ricci had been sexually assaulted by an animal on the set of her movie.

The actress, who already had a phobia of the animal, revealed Chim Chim grabbed her left breast while she was filming 'Penelope'.

Christina - who played a woman born with a pig's nose in the movie - said: "I'm afraid of monkeys, but I had decided not to be afraid of Chim Chim because no one else is. I thought, 'Everyone else thinks he's awesome so just be cool.'

"It's the first day of shooting and I have this kitchen scene where I'm sitting down and Chim Chim is sitting right next to me. Of course, it freaks out during the take and grabs my left breast and will not let go, and he's so strong."

Reese Witherspoon engaged?

U.S. actress Reese Witherspoon arrives for the UK premiere of "Monsters vs. Aliens" in Leicester Square in London March 11, 2009.[Agencies]

Reese Witherspoon has sparked fresh marriage rumours after she was spotted wearing an engagement ring.

The 'Legally Blonde' actress - who has been dating Jake Gyllenhaal since 2007 - hastily removed the sparkler during a recent photo shoot when she realised people were staring at it.

A source at the Avon shoot, which was held at Los Angeles' Sony Studios, told America's Star magazine: "It was gorgeous, and everyone noticed it right away. But she took it off as soon as she saw people staring. Reese stuffed it in her bag and didn't put it on again the rest of the day."

Last month, Jake was spotted engagement ring shopping in New York.

The 'Brokeback Mountain' actor spent four hours searching for the perfect band in a jewellery shop.

According to recent reports, Jake had been planning to whisk Reese away on a romantic Egyptian holiday to pop the question.

The 28-year-old actor has been making a huge effort to spend time with 32-year-old Reese's two children recently - nine-year-old Ava and Deacon, five, from her previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe.

Noel Gallagher's America dream

Noel Gallagher wants to move to America - but can't because of his kids.

The Oasis guitarist has grown to love the US as he has gotten older but can't make it his permanent home because he doesn't want his children - 18-month-old son Donovan, whose mother is Noel's long-term partner Sara MacDonald, and eight-year-old daughter Anais, with his ex-wife Meg Mathews - to have American accents.

Noel, 41, said: "I've grown to like America. It's a place for adults. Once you get past 40 you start to appreciate it. I would love to live in Los Angeles, I'll get a house between Madonna and Robbie Williams.

"But I don't think I could go because of the kids. I can't have a son with an American accent. I can't have them calling me pop."

Noel is seemingly following in his brother and bandmate Liam's footsteps.

The Oasis frontman previously admitted he wants to move to New York with his wife Nicole Appleton, just like his late idol John Lennon.

Liam said: "I love that city, I buzz off it. Nic' was born in Canada, but then she lived there for five years. That's the next step for me. I want to go to a place where I can just be me."

John Lennon moved to the US city in 1971 and was tragically shot dead outside the Dakota apartment building where he lived by deranged fan Mark David Chapman in 1980.

Anna Faris' comic ambition

Anna Faris wants to do comedy for the rest of her career.

The 'House Bunny' star used to put pressure on herself to take on more serious parts but is now happy to be known for her comic talents.

She said: "I used to be like, 'You know what? I'm going to show this town! I can act! I can cry!' I wanted to play a heroin-addicted prostitute that gives birth to a baby that only has one leg.

"And then I thought I kind of don't want to explore those darker parts of my personality at all. I would love to do comedy for the rest of my life."

Despite her skill for comedy, Faris was convinced she was going to be fired from her breakthrough role in spoof 'Scary Movie' for not being funny enough.

She told Arena magazine: "I was a very serious child. I did act from a young age, but only did very dramatic stuff, and I never thought comedy would be wear I end up.

"When I got the first 'Scary Movie', I thought they were going to figure out really quickly that I wasn't funny and I'm going to get fired."
