LOS ANGELES – Brendan Fraser will join Harrison Ford in a fact-based medical drama set for an early April start date.

The untitled project marks the first greenlit production for CBS Films, the feature arm of broadcaster CBS.

Fraser will play John Crowley, the father of two children who were diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder for which he's told there is no cure. Unbowed, he seeks out an experimental and sometimes irascible doctor (Ford) who works to find a way to save the children's lives. The roles of Fraser's wife and kids have not yet been cast.

Tom Vaughan ("What Happens in Vegas") is directing from an adaptation of Geeta Anand's book "The Cure."

Fraser starred in two box office hits last year, "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor."
